Chapter 29: Recruit Training! Establishing the Snow Leopard Special Operations Unit!

Li Yunlong listened to the report from Zhang Dabiao, and his heart was filled with joy; a smile bloomed across his face.

"It hasn't been easy," Li Yunlong said, taking a deep breath and sighing with emotion. "It has been nearly three months since the Battle of Cangyun Ridge, and our New First Regiment has finally been restored to full strength."

"Yes," Zhang Dabiao nodded repeatedly.

However, Zhang Dabiao quickly pursed his lips and remarked, "But right now, the majority of the New First Regiment are new recruits. We must waste no time in getting them trained."

"In the Battle of Cangyun Ridge, our veteran soldiers suffered heavy casualties; there weren't many left to begin with. Even adding in the veteran prisoners of war we've recruited during this period, we only have about six hundred veterans in total."

"That means that out of our fifteen hundred soldiers, more than half are raw recruits."

"From that perspective, the combat effectiveness of our New First Regiment is still significantly lower than before; it will take time to build it back up."

Hearing this, Li Yunlong merely grinned.

Li Yunlong was well aware that the New First Regiment had undergone a major turnover, that the number of veterans was low, and that the new recruits were weak. The overall strength of the regiment was, frankly, not very impressive. However, Li Yunlong was prepared for this. He had previously obtained a "Manual for Rapid Recruit Training" through a system choice. With this manual, the new recruits of the New First Regiment could attain combat readiness in a very short time.

Thinking of this, Li Yunlong reached his right hand behind his back and gripped the air; the "Manual for Rapid Recruit Training" from his system space appeared in his palm.

He handed the manual to Zhang Dabiao and said, "From today on, all new recruits in the New First Regiment will be trained according to the contents of this manual."

"As long as the training orders are executed strictly, our new recruits will certainly be able to achieve a certain level of combat effectiveness in a very short time, causing the overall strength of the New First Regiment to skyrocket."

Zhang Dabiao was taken aback and took the manual to look it over. He was simply curious to see what was inside. But once he started reading, he was struck with astonishment. As a soldier, Zhang Dabiao was knowledgeable, and he could see that while the various training methods in the manual were extremely demanding on physical strength and endurance, they would indeed enable new recruits to acquire military discipline and combat capability in a short period.

"This manual is truly ingenious!" Zhang Dabiao exclaimed with excitement. "With this recruit training manual, our new recruits will surely rise quickly. This training method will definitely yield twice the result with half the effort when it comes to improving combat power."

"Then go, and implement the contents of the manual as quickly as possible," Li Yunlong said with a smile.

"Yes, sir!" Zhang Dabiao accepted the order immediately and left to begin the training.

After Zhang Dabiao left, Li Yunlong said to Han Chunyun, who was standing by, "Go find Zhou Weiguo and bring him to me!"

Han Chunyun had officially become Li Yunlong’s deputy, primarily responsible for conveying orders and handling various documents.

"Yes, sir!" Han Chunyun replied.

Soon, Han Chunyun brought Zhou Weiguo before Li Yunlong.

"Regimental Commander, did you want to see me?" Zhou Weiguo asked curiously.

"Yes," Li Yunlong nodded, then looked at Zhou Weiguo with interest and asked, "Do you know why I haven't assigned you a post yet?"

Zhou Weiguo was stunned and shook his head. "I don't know."

"That is because I have something more important for you to do," Li Yunlong said, dropping the pretense. He continued in a deep voice, "On the battlefields of the future, the conditions will be complex and the situation ever-changing. That is why I need a special forces unit—you could also think of it as an elite vanguard."

"I recall that you studied at a special military academy before; you should be able to understand what I mean."

Hearing this, Zhou Weiguo’s eyes lit up. He had not expected Li Yunlong to know about special forces, let alone want to establish one! This was a concept that had only emerged internationally in recent years.

"I understand," Zhou Weiguo nodded repeatedly. "I have indeed studied special operations and understand the significance behind them."

"Regimental Commander Li, are you asking me to form this special forces unit?"

"Yes..." Li Yunlong nodded and smiled. "I think you are the most suitable person in the entire New First Regiment for this task."

"I guarantee I will complete the mission!" Zhou Weiguo accepted the order immediately, his eyes filled with determination. He felt the high hopes and trust Li Yunlong placed in him, which made him feel even more respectful toward his commander.

"Regimental Commander," Zhou Weiguo added, "I can select the special talents from the regiment to form the unit. However, to fully utilize the combat effectiveness of a special forces unit, we will need special equipment. Furthermore, the training for such a unit is certainly different from that of regular troops; we will need to develop a specialized training program."

Hearing this, Li Yunlong pulled out the "Special Forces Training Manual" and handed it to him. "Take a look..."

Zhou Weiguo was stunned, then took the manual and began to read. After reading it, he was completely shocked.

A long time later, Zhou Weiguo said in disbelief, "Regimental Commander, you are truly incredible! How did you even manage to get your hands on a manual specifically for training special forces? The value of this book is immeasurable!"

"The training mission for the special forces unit is yours now," Li Yunlong said, patting Zhou Weiguo on the shoulder. "Follow me."

Zhou Weiguo followed Li Yunlong to a warehouse in the back courtyard of the Liu residence. Li Yunlong opened the door, revealing the interior.

Thirty sets of special equipment were arranged neatly. Each set included an MP38 submachine gun, an automatic pistol, a tactical vest, a tactical knife, and more. The equipment was quite luxurious.

Seeing this, Zhou Weiguo’s eyes went wide. "My heavens, there are dozens of sets of such sophisticated special equipment! This is unbelievable. Everything is top-tier; the value of these items is beyond calculation!"

Zhou Weiguo looked at Li Yunlong with great joy. "Regimental Commander, with this equipment and the training manual, building a thirty-man special forces unit will be no problem. I will ensure this unit achieves extreme combat effectiveness in the shortest possible time, becoming the sharpest blade of the New First Regiment!"

"Good," Li Yunlong nodded with satisfaction. "Then this special forces unit shall be called the Snow Leopard, and you will be in charge of it personally! Pick anyone you want from the regiment; complete the formation of the Snow Leopard as soon as possible!"

"Yes, sir!" Zhou Weiguo accepted the order immediately.

He left the headquarters and went to the training grounds to start selecting his men.

One week later, Zhou Weiguo reported to Li Yunlong: "Report, Regimental Commander, the Snow Leopard Special Operations Team has been fully formed. Awaiting your instructions!"
