Chapter 151: The Feng Shui Journey (A Rare Treasure!)
He Zhixing took the intricately carved jade pieces to his collection shop for sale. Each piece was exquisitely beautiful, and many gentlemen and ladies who loved fine jade jewelry were captivated by the craftsmanship. This brought He Zhixing great satisfaction.
This time, he was preparing to set out again, but he didn’t bring any women—only Lai the Madman. Upon hearing that He Zhixing was taking him treasure hunting, Lai was overjoyed. It had been a long time since they last traveled together; their previous trip to the Miao village had been a year or two ago.
He Zhixing and Lai didn’t drive; instead, they took the train from Leshi to Nanchang, Jiangxi. After arriving in Nanchang, they boarded regional buses headed to various rural villages. Their plan was to visit one village after another, focusing on wild, mountainous countryside. This time, He Zhixing brought a full set of tools.
Among the items he carried were a small wooden carving of a beauty, a compass, five-bu coins used for divination, a tortoise shell for Feng Shui, knife-shaped coins, tiny stones with bone-like holes for spiritual use, sandalwood prayer beads, as well as a sable and a golden tortoise figurine. Equipped with a multi-purpose travel bag for mountain treks, they ventured toward a remote mountain village far from Nanchang, trekking through dense forest trails.
They deliberately sought out winding mountain paths and thick woods. One day, they reached the summit of an unnamed forested peak. He Zhixing took out his compass and various Feng Shui divination tools and began to observe and sense the spiritual energy radiating within a hundred-mile radius from a vantage point with a broad view.
Surrounded by numerous mountains of varying sizes, the spot where they stopped was an excellent observation point. He Zhixing seemed to notice that several nearby mountain ridges formed a peculiar pattern, signaling a fine Xuanwu Feng Shui vein.
What made this Xuanwu Feng Shui vein so unusual was the pattern of the surrounding sand formations. Above these sands grew tall wild trees and grasses, but below stretched rocky lands with sparse vegetation—only scattered wild trees and grasses. The Feng Shui vein’s dragon’s vein point was nestled precisely where these rocky sands converged, a rare formation for Feng Shui treasure sites.
Holding the wooden carving of the little beauty, He Zhixing focused his spiritual energy sensing on that spot. Suddenly, the carving emitted a response. He Zhixing’s heart leapt with joy as he whispered, “Looks like we’ve found the right place…”
Lai the Madman, standing silently beside him, suddenly asked, “What did you say? What do you mean by the right place?”
He Zhixing smiled and replied, “You’ll see soon enough.”
Then, leading Lai down the mountain, they headed toward the mountain formation with exceptional Feng Shui energy. Despite the lack of paths, they pushed through dense forest and underbrush, crawling and hacking their way forward. Their clothes were covered with dew, grass, and dust; leaves hung from their bodies, but they pressed on relentlessly toward the spiritual nexus.
Following He Zhixing, Lai dared not complain or speak, silently trailblazing through the uncharted mountainside like wild forest dwellers.
After crawling for half an hour through thick millet grass and dense woods, they finally reached a relatively open, sparsely vegetated rocky ridge. Though trees were few, those that grew were tall and ancient, some decades old. They found the spot where spiritual energy converged. Using small hatchets, He Zhixing and Lai cleared the grass and small trees around the burial site. Standing before the spot, the magnificent Feng Shui qualities immediately revealed themselves.
Even Lai, who had some knowledge of tomb Feng Shui, couldn’t help but exclaim, “This is truly a prime Feng Shui burial ground. I never imagined such a treasure site existed here in Jiangxi. But without a keen eye, it would be almost impossible to find.”
He Zhixing nodded, “Exactly. From the surrounding high mountains, you can’t see that this place is a Feng Shui gem. The tall ancient trees above have long concealed the spot. If not for the large trees masking this site, it would have been discovered long ago. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be the ones to find this treasure.”
Lai was amazed. How did his brother know this was a treasure site? The truth would only be revealed after digging. Without delay, after He Zhixing pinpointed the best spot, they grabbed their shovels and began to dig.
After digging about two meters deep, they encountered something hard. To their astonishment, He Zhixing’s shovel struck a jar filled with gold, silver, and jewels. Even more surprising, as they dug further, they uncovered seven or eight more jars. Two were enormous, containing genuine antique porcelain artifacts. Nearby, they also unearthed skeletal remains of an ancestor from an unknown family, placed in a burial jar.
At first, they didn’t realize the jar contained bones. Upon opening, they saw the skeleton seated upright inside. The jar’s inner rim was encrusted with a thick layer of yellowish golden webbing, resembling a spider’s silk but shimmering with golden threads. To He Zhixing’s amazement, these silk webs were gilded in gold.
He recalled old Master Chen’s words: “Wherever there is a Feng Shui treasure site, the inner walls of burial jars will be lined with golden silk webs. The more the webs, the greater the family’s fortune, official promotions, wealth, and honors. It’s a remarkable and authentic sign of a prosperous Feng Shui site.”
Examining the treasure jars, they found all kinds of jewelry—jade, pearls, agate, silver, gold—and antique porcelain pieces from the Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties, including blue-and-white porcelain and various plates, bowls, and vases. He Zhixing used the wooden carving to sense the spiritual energy emanating from these items; all were imbued with vitality and exquisitely crafted, unmistakably genuine antiques.
Both He Zhixing and Lai were filled with joy and amazement, their lips curling into blissful smiles…
