Volume One, Chapter 101: Divorce After the Child Is Born
The private room fell utterly silent, so quiet that a pin drop could be heard. Realizing this, Bian Xunzhou’s brows knitted tightly, as if he could crush a fly between them. Suddenly, the glass in his palm shattered, blood mingling with liquor as it dripped onto the polished floor, yet he seemed unfazed by the pain, instead letting out a long breath of relief.
“Not bad. This thing should let me see just how strong I am now,” Meng Batian chuckled darkly, giving Yin Xue a kick. Without a moment’s hesitation, Yin Xue charged at the stone giant.
Setting aside Wu Lai’s return to the Wu family to discuss important matters, Zhang Hao, gun in hand, sprinted more than ten miles in one breath, plunging deep into the mountains. Even if someone had tried to follow him, they’d been left far behind.
“Who is she?” Zhang Hao asked curiously. It was the coldest voice he’d ever heard, as if it contained none of the seven emotions of humanity.
All people and things would eventually turn to dust. Whether it was ordinary beads and chairs, or cherished feelings and power, all would become insubstantial, drifting away like illusions.
Mounted atop the rocket was a satellite of their own making. Since current radio communications couldn’t transmit images, and surveillance soul devices couldn’t function over such distances, there was no way to capture images from space.
As the song ended, Qin Kai, like a superstar caught up in the high of performance, smashed the microphone onto the sofa. The speakers exploded with a loud “bang,” everyone erupting in wild shouts—some applauding and cheering, others clutching their ears and begging for mercy, laughter filling the room.
Are there times when life feels effortless, when you seem to get what you want with ease? But then, once the mind intervenes, analyzing and weighing everything, it all grinds to a halt. I’ve felt that way, especially when playing the guitar.
Luo Meifeng promised Zhang Hao she would invite more experts to investigate, and hoped Zhang Hao would keep a close watch as well. Upon learning Song Chunxiang was a flower cultivation consultant, Luo Meifeng asked for her number directly, saying she would consult her if anything remained unclear.
Morningstar Industries wasn’t certain where exactly the hostages were being held, but judging by the amount of food purchased in the city, it was clear that all—or at least most—of the hostages were confined here.
Meng Gong gazed upon the enemy’s undead army. Perhaps because the three skeletal leaders held different roles, their legions were divided into skeletal spearmen, sword-and-shield skeletons, and skeletal archers. At a glance, it was a veritable sea of bones.
In their flight, Bai Jiao, infuriatingly, blocked their path. Mi San grinned menacingly and raised his longsword to stab at Bai Jiao.
Before long, Ye Qing returned with sour plum juice and iced fruit, cautioning Yan Ruojiu not to overindulge, then quietly withdrew to the outer room.
By rough count, this fellow had even saved Song Jiang thrice—no wonder his status on Liangshan remained so exalted.
“What do you mean? Are you saying... that fire was no accident? Someone set it on purpose—to kill Ziran?” Yan Ruojiu’s voice trembled in horror as she pieced it together.
“I—I…” How could I not be anxious? Just look at your sweet expression whenever you mention Jiang Ziran. Jiang Zhengxi grumbled sourly in his heart, though he dared not speak it aloud.
In a short while, a warm breeze drifted in, carrying with it the scent of roasting meat. Everyone, catching the aroma, was astounded—was someone barbecuing just outside the manor?
A strange, sinister power emanated from the other, surging through his body like a turbulent sea. The overwhelming malice clouded the clarity of his mind in an instant.
“Heh, you really do look adorable when you’re angry…” Jiang Zhengxi seemed oblivious to Yan Ruojiu’s embarrassment, and instead pressed his advantage all the more.
