Chapter 110: Disgrace
Upon hearing Chen Yetian’s words, the others looked at him with a renewed sense of respect. Given who Yin Shushu was, the fact that she was willing to grant an audience to Elder Chen meant that no one present dared to offend him again.
Just as I, too, assumed that it was Chen Yetian who had invited her, Yin Shushu cast a cold glance at him and said indifferently, "Who is this Chen Yetian you speak of? I do not know him."
At her words, the obsequious smile on Chen Yetian’s face froze, replaced by an expression of awkwardness.
Chen Yetian was the premier Feng Shui master of Duhe City; to have Yin Shushu bluntly declare she did not know him was akin to being slapped hard across the face. Of course, he dared not show his displeasure to her, assuming instead that she had simply forgotten him in a moment of confusion. He offered a reminder, "Lady Yin, I sent you a text message earlier, inviting you to attend this wedding."
Yin Shushu’s expression remained icy. She turned to Mu Xiaoxiao, who stood behind her, and asked, "Is that so?"
Mu Xiaoxiao took out her phone, scrolled through it, and replied, "Mistress, Chen Yetian is merely a third-rate practitioner in the world of Feng Shui. I didn't pay attention to his message and deleted it directly." Her face remained as expressionless as ever as she spoke.
To be dismissed as "third-rate" when he was the top master in Duhe City was more than Chen Yetian could bear, yet to my surprise, he did not lose his temper. Instead, he simply muttered unhappily, "Then it was my misunderstanding." With that, he retreated quietly to his seat.
Chen Yetian certainly had a thick skin; had I been in his shoes, I would have wanted to find a hole to crawl into. I watched him closely throughout; for such an arrogant man to show absolutely no temper in front of Yin Shushu was truly striking.
Chen Zhiqiang, however, seeing his grandfather so humiliated, stood up to intervene. His face pale with alarm, Chen Yetian forcefully pulled him back down.
Even Bai Ranhe was intimidated by Yin Shushu’s aura. Not daring to waste a single word, he eagerly tried to usher her toward the empty seat at the main table.
Ignoring his enthusiasm, Yin Shushu stood still. Her gaze swept across the hall, lingered on me for a moment, and then returned to Bai Ranhe. She asked coldly, "Where is the groom's side seated?"
*Swish!*
As soon as she spoke, every gaze in the room turned toward me. Her intention was clear: she was a guest of the groom’s side—she had come for me.
My pulse quickened. Why would she come for me? I had only learned of the Yellow River Manor half a month ago, let alone known its mistress.
"Brother Yangxi, do... do you know them?" Even Bai Xiaoli seemed to forget her sorrow, turning to look at me in astonishment.
I shook my head and whispered that I did not.
It took a long moment for Bai Ranhe to process this, and he asked, "Lady Yin, you are a guest of honor; you should sit at the main table in the front."
Yin Shushu did not reply. Instead, Mu Xiaoxiao stepped forward and said, "We are guests of the groom. By custom, we cannot sit at the bride's table. Director Bai, where is the seating for the groom's side?"
"This..." Bai Ranhe hesitated, clearly in a difficult spot.
I understood his embarrassment. He had relegated the groom’s seats to the very last row in the most remote corner. If Yin Shushu, a renowned figure in Duhe City, were to sit there, it would surely offend the Yellow River Manor, and Bai Ranhe’s future business prospects in the city would suffer.
"Manager Mu, the groom's seating is right here!" Before Bai Ranhe could conjure an excuse, Lu Jiu stood up and waved his arm vigorously at Mu Xiaoxiao.
Yin Shushu and Mu Xiaoxiao turned to look at the secluded corner. Yin Shushu’s brow furrowed, and she said coldly, "Director Bai, is this the only place you deem fit for a friend of the Yellow River Dragon King?"
