He sat with his legs crossed—simply sitting, and yet the silent aura of a king about him caused the temperature in the room to plummet. The man’s features were sharp and chiseled, his eyes black as obsidian and unfathomably deep. His countenance was striking, sculpted and profound. At this moment, just sitting there, he resembled a sovereign in an ancient castle—lofty, sacred, solemn, and utterly inviolable.

His gaze, keen as an eagle’s and penetrating, rested upon Yun Fu, as if he could peel away every layer and see straight into her soul.

“You have a way to save my grandmother?”

Those commanding eyes swept over Yun Fu.

Their gazes met—one cold, the other wild.

“Of course.” Yun Fu, undaunted by his overwhelming presence, lifted her lips in a confident smile. Her eyes were luminous and captivating, glittering with self-assured brilliance.

“Three months. If you fail, your life for hers.”

The man spoke slowly, his voice as if forged in a freezing abyss, carrying a chill that could turn the world to ice.

“Lunatic! Did you hear the terms clearly? If there’s no effect, you’ll pay with your life all the same! Sign a written agreement…” Even Lian Bingqing hadn’t noticed her brother’s odd behavior. Now, hearing Yun Fu boast so brazenly, she was livid, fury biting at her words.

Yun Fu cut her off impatiently, her foxlike eyes glinting with frost. “No need.”

“This isn’t about what you want! The written agreement must be signed as a legal—”

“Three days.” Yun Fu’s lips curved. “The medicine will work. She’ll be cured.”

Everyone present froze on the spot.

Three days?

What an arrogant woman!

“Utterly reckless!” Lian Bingqing sneered. “Even my master—the Saint of Chinese Medicine—wouldn’t dare make such a claim. What gives you this confidence? Your worthless diploma from an unfinished university?”

Yun Fu raised her eyes, cool light flickering in her upturned, foxy gaze as it fell upon Lian Bingqing. Just a single look from Yun Fu, and Lian Bingqing was subdued. That one glance pressed on her like invisible thorns, the powerful sense of oppression from Yun Fu’s presence stifling the words of mockery in her throat.

She straightened her neck, forcing herself to maintain the bearing of a socialite. “Well… since you’re so eager to meet your doom, I won’t stop you. Sign it.”

She tossed an agreement onto the table.

Yun Fu scoffed lightly. “What a bother.”

With a few swift steps, she signed her name with a flourish—bold and unrestrained, her handwriting wild and defiant.

The assembled military doctors exchanged looks of surprise.

This woman signed so readily?

Is she truly unafraid of death?

Or… does she actually have real skill?

After signing, Yun Fu tossed aside the pen and strode directly toward the old lady lying in the sickbed.

At that moment, the jade ring on Lian Hanqi’s thumb glimmered faintly red.

Could it be her?

When Lian Hanqi’s abyssal eyes landed on Yun Fu, something inscrutable flickered within them.

Yun Fu approached the bed. The old woman, who appeared to be at least seventy, was lying there, unconscious and frail.

“Bring me silver needles,” Yun Fu said.

“Silver needles? You’re going to do acupuncture?” Lian Bingqing scoffed. “How can a five-hundred-year-old auxiliary therapy compare to modern Western medicine? Who even practices Chinese medicine anymore?”

“Silence.” Lian Hanqi rose, his chilling gaze locking onto the ever-noisy Lian Bingqing.

“Cousin, you…” Lian Bingqing was aggrieved; to be scolded in front of so many people—her pride as a lady of status was nowhere to be found.

“Fetch a set of silver needles.”

His voice was quiet but cold as winter.

“Cousin, you can’t seriously believe that outdated acupuncture can save Grandmother? You—”

“Say one more word, and get out.”

His patience had clearly run out.

Lian Bingqing’s eyes reddened. She dared not cross Lian Hanqi and could only fall silent.

Her cousin had humiliated her publicly for the sake of a woman!

That wretched woman! She’d see soon enough how this woman would die within three days!

Soon, the silver needles were brought in.

Yun Fu took out a lighter, ignited it, and carefully sterilized each needle in the flame.

Then, one by one, she swiftly inserted the needles into the old lady’s Baihui, Yuzhen, Yuyao, Anmian, Yintang, Fengchi, and Quchi acupuncture points.

Watching Yun Fu’s deft, rapid movements, Lian Bingqing was astounded—after years of medical study, believing she’d seen every possible trick, she found it impossible that mere acupuncture could bring someone back from the brink!

After a few needles, the old lady, eyes still shut, suddenly coughed violently, spitting out thick, foul-smelling black blood.

“Madam!”

“Grandmother!”

Everyone rushed over, only to see the elderly woman’s face, already weathered by age, now appeared even more haggard.

Lian Bingqing reached out to check for breath beneath the old woman’s nose, her expression changing dramatically. She shot Yun Fu a fierce glare. “Cousin, Grandmother’s breathing is even weaker! This vile woman has harmed her—arrest her at once!”

At her words, the butler and servants surrounded Yun Fu.

Lian Bingqing even called the police. “A woman is pretending to understand medicine and has harmed my grandmother—arrest her immediately!”

Yun Fu looked at Lian Bingqing with thinly veiled impatience.

Such little skill, yet so much drama.

The butler and servants pressed down on Yun Fu’s arms, trying to drag her out.

“Don’t touch me. I’ll walk out myself.”

Yun Fu shook them off, counting down in her mind.

Nine, eight, seven, six…

On the sickbed, the old lady’s withered fingers twitched.

“Cousin, this woman is a fraud! The police will be here any moment!” Lian Bingqing’s face, usually cold and sharp, was flushed red with rage. Beside her, Lian Hanqi remained silent, his dark eyes fixed unwaveringly on the old woman in the bed.

Had he misjudged this woman?

And as for the jade ring…

He recalled the words of the master at Lingyin Temple, “When the ring glows red, fate has arrived.”

So, could this woman who endangered his grandmother’s life really be his fated one?

Just then, the police arrived. After taking statements, they reached for their handcuffs to detain Yun Fu.

Four, three, two, one—

Yun Fu’s face remained calm as water, her bright eyes never leaving the old woman on the sickbed.

A ragged cough sounded.

Shockingly, the old lady who had just spat blood slowly opened her eyes. “Hanqi…”

Her voice was weak but audible.

“Grandmother!”

Lian Hanqi called softly, reaching her side in two strides.

“Grandmother?” Lian Bingqing could hardly believe her eyes. For a moment, she didn’t know what to do, hesitating in disbelief.

Her grandmother had been revived by this woman?

How could that be possible?

All her life, not even her teachers had dared question her treatment strategies, let alone her peers.

And now, out of nowhere, a woman had appeared and, with a strange method, publicly humiliated her. How could she accept such a blow to her pride?

“A prodigy of the medical world? It seems, Miss Lian, that your virtue does not match your reputation.”
