Chapter 84: Do Not Disgrace Yourself
All eyes followed his words and shifted to Yun Fu, yet she merely glanced up lightly before returning to her detached, unconcerned demeanor. The distinguished guest, however, seemed entirely unbothered, his mood still buoyant as he strode toward Yun Fu.
“My dear Fu, won’t you have a drink?”
“No.”
“You wound me terribly.”
“…”
Not far away, Xi Rou’er could not help but let her gaze stray toward this handsome, elegant man exuding such noble charm. But as she watched him approach Yun Fu with such familiarity, only one thought echoed in her heart—Yun Fu, again!
Mu Bai and Gu Haoyuan were already bad enough, but now even foreign men were flocking eagerly to her!
When Eric sat down beside Yun Fu, she did not appear especially enthusiastic, but she did put away her phone. Feeling the gazes of those around her, Yun Fu experienced a rare sense of ease.
Eric leaned in, whispering softly in her ear, “That last piano piece was dreadful, my dear. It’s been so long since I heard you play. Won’t you play something for me?”
His words pulled Yun Fu’s mind back to the past—two children, no more than ten years old. A black-haired girl sat sternly at the piano, while a golden-haired boy stood before it, joy shining irrepressibly in his eyes.
Slowly, Yun Fu rose to her feet.
“Fu, are you going to get some food? Let me help you,” Mu Bai offered.
“No need.”
They all wondered where she was going, but only Eric shifted his position, lounging lazily in his chair, his eyes lingering on her slender silhouette.
As Yun Fu walked step by step toward the piano, Xi Rou’er pressed her lips together. When Yun Fu passed in front of her, she could not help but say, “Yun Fu, you—”
But before she could finish, Yun Fu sat gracefully at the piano. Her slender fingers poised above the black and white keys, looking exquisite.
“Yun Fu, you… want to play the piano too?” Xi Rou’er feigned confusion, suppressing her inner disdain.
“Mm.”
“Be careful then. This isn’t our piano—it’s rather expensive.”
This time, Yun Fu said no more, simply lifting the lid and gently caressing the keys. All eyes were upon her, awaiting the sound her fingers would summon.
Just then, a voice abruptly cut in.
“You’re not allowed to touch my piano!” A little girl in a princess dress ran over, glaring angrily at Yun Fu. “This piano was gifted to me by Borro. If you play worse than Xi Rou’er, you’re not allowed to touch it!”
The girl pointed at Xi Rou’er, her eyes filled with resistance and scorn.
“Wen Li!” Mr. Wen barked angrily, hurrying over to pull his daughter away. But the pampered girl was unfazed by her father, standing stubbornly by the piano, staring daggers at Yun Fu.
“Get up right now!”
[Why hasn’t Yun Fu gotten up yet? I’m embarrassed for her!]
[Exactly, how could she compare to Xi Rou’er? She’s a student of Master Borro, and Davis is here too.]
[I heard her family background is quite ordinary. Otherwise, why would she have left school before graduating high school? How could she possibly have learned piano?]
[If she’s never learned, she’s just making a fool of herself. This is abroad, you know—don’t embarrass us like this!]
[This is so annoying. Can’t she just get up? She saw Xi Rou’er play and now she wants to show off too.]
Xi Rou’er didn’t know what the audience was saying, but she was already delighted. With Wen Li blocking the way, Yun Fu was bound to embarrass herself.
She spoke gently to Yun Fu, “Yun Fu, why don’t we wait until we’re back home? I can teach you then.”
[Our goddess is too kind. Why bother teaching her—can’t you see she’s desperate to show off?]
[I can’t stand people who pretend to know things when they don’t. Disgusting!]
[This is ridiculous. She’s just a pretty face. Speaking a little Italian and she thinks she’s invincible—how laughable!]
Yun Fu lifted her head and cast a fleeting glance at Xi Rou’er—chill and devoid of warmth. Xi Rou’er’s heart skipped a beat; it felt as though Yun Fu was looking at a corpse.
Before Yun Fu could reply, Eric could no longer sit still. As the heir to a family with centuries of heritage, his presence was not something ordinary people could withstand. He strode over, face cold, and Mr. Wen’s legs turned to jelly.
Eric went straight to Yun Fu’s side and looked indifferently at the girl Mr. Wen was holding back. Those eyes, deep as the ocean, now churned with a dangerous tide. His tone remained unchanged, yet it was biting cold. “I asked her to play. If she breaks it, I’ll pay.”
“Even if she razed the Wen family to the ground today, I could compensate you.”
No one dared utter a word.
Yun Fu’s lips twitched; she sighed, exasperated. “Am I playing a bomb? Go back to your seat.”
“Alright.”
With that, they watched as the imposing man, radiating authority, turned pliant as a golden retriever and obediently returned to his seat.
“…”
Before they could recover from their astonishment, the banquet hall was suddenly filled with a sound—like pearls falling onto jade, melodious and flowing, captivating the listeners.
As the music spilled from the piano, they felt as if they stood in a forest freshly washed by rain, listening to the voice of nature: the patter of raindrops on leaves, the flutter of birds’ wings, the gentle gurgle of a stream…
It was truly refreshing, utterly enchanting.
Unconsciously, their eyes turned to the girl at the piano. She had shed her down jacket, wearing only a knitted long dress that outlined her graceful figure. Her long hair draped softly down her back, swaying slightly with the movement of her fingers.
She was like a masterpiece of the world’s finest art—breathtakingly beautiful.
It was as if the entire world had fallen silent, listening to this musical feast.
[Am I hallucinating?]
[No, you’re not. I suspect Yun Fu hid a recorder somewhere.]
[Is it so hard to admit someone else is brilliant? All I want to say now is—Yun Fu is amazing!]
[She’s truly incredible. I’ve never studied music, but even I can tell—it’s simply wonderful. So relaxing.]
[As a music student, I can say—the techniques and emotion she’s expressed in just a few years, I might never achieve in my lifetime.]
As the piece ended, Eric laughed, a mist of emotion in his eyes. He was the first to stand and applaud, and soon, the entire room filled with applause.
Everyone was left utterly stunned.
Davis was even more excited. He rushed to Yun Fu’s side, gushing, “My god, your piano is incredible! I can’t believe I was lucky enough to hear such a marvelous performance…”
