Seeing the tracker, Mo Fei looked visibly annoyed. "Oh, right. That’s a thing, isn't it?"

Had he known they would track him down so quickly, he wouldn't have wasted time standing around here talking to Xiao Bai. He would have at least figured out what Xiao Bai was after and had his fun before dealing with anything else. His life motto was to live as recklessly as possible, provided it didn't actually kill him. More experiences meant more wisdom; life, after all, was the best teacher. As long as he stayed alive, everything else was negotiable.

Besides, he clearly had two excellent helpers at his disposal. While this might be a bit of a torment for the Long siblings, wasn't work just a form of suffering anyway?

After retrieving the white phosphorus spray bottle, Long Er looked at Xiao Bai, who was slumped on the ground with a bleeding hand. "How should we handle him?"

"Just finish him off and toss him onto the pile of corpses," Long Si said, raising her gun toward Xiao Bai.

"Wait!" Xiao Bai’s lips had drained of all color, and he gasped for breath. "I can turn state's evidence and testify against Bai Yingxiong. I have proof of many of his crimes."

"The thought is nice, but to put him on trial, we’d first have to dismantle his armed forces," Mo Fei said, shaking his head with mock regret. "Just shoot him."

At that, Long Si cocked the trigger.

Xiao Bai struggled to sit up. "I know his troop numbers and weapon configurations. And I know who is helping him from the shadows."

This time, Mo Fei and the Long siblings hesitated. After a brief exchange of glances, they understood each other’s thoughts.

"Your offer is tempting, but we don't need it," Long Er said plainly, her position clear. "We aren't with the police or the military; we have no interest in any of that."

As mercenaries and ordinary people, they only wanted to survive and go home—it was that simple. Furthermore, they had already made contact with the Allied Forces, and through legitimate channels, they could get Mo Fei back to a normal life once they returned. After finishing this mission, the Long siblings would be able to enjoy some peace for a while.

Xiao Bai’s pupils trembled. Seeing Mo Fei, a sudden inspiration struck him. "I know a lot of dirt on Bai Yingxiong. He wanted to kill me, but he failed."

"If you kill me, Bai Yingxiong will be thrilled. He’ll probably even want to thank you!"

These two simple sentences successfully shook Mo Fei. Xiao Bai wasn't a good person, but neither was Bai Yingxiong. People died in Myanmar every day, and those involved in the gray or black markets had to be prepared to die at any moment. But if killing Xiao Bai truly played right into Bai Yingxiong’s hands, that would be incredibly irritating.

Long Er also saw Mo Fei’s hesitation. She walked up to Xiao Bai and asked, "You’ve always worked for Bai Yingxiong. Can you really sell him out just to save your own skin?"

If he could betray the boss he had followed for so long just to survive, they would have to weigh how much truth was in his words and whether he might stab them in the back later.

"It’s not just to save my life," Xiao Bai laughed bitterly. "You only know that Bai Yingxiong sells drugs and runs scams and gambling dens. You don't know that he has a stake in the high-seas hospital ships, do you?"

"To destroy human evidence, he sent a group of people onto those ships. Li Momo was among them."

The Long siblings had heard of the high-seas hospital ships, but the powers and interests involved were so complex that they wouldn't intervene even if they knew. Mo Fei, however, was clueless. "So what?" he asked, confused.

Xiao Bai looked at him in disbelief. Seeing the genuine, unfeigned confusion on his face, he was even more stunned. "You really don't know?"

Since he had first encountered Mo Fei, he had assumed Mo Fei was some high-ranking member or leader of a criminal organization posing as an actor, or perhaps a deranged psychopath lurking in the shadows. Was he really ignorant of these unspoken rules?

"Whether I know or not, you’re about to tell me," Mo Fei snapped, his eyes widening. "Talk!"

With dried blood still on his face, his fierce gaze reminded Xiao Bai of the man who had taught him how to kill. Even though that man was dead, he remained a nightmare Xiao Bai couldn't shake.

He swallowed hard and said, "Three to four thousand people are sent to those ships every year. Some are castoffs from the scam centers; others are 'livestock' already booked in advance."

"Once the ship reaches international waters, the doctors on board start cutting them open to unload the cargo."

"In international waters, the only authorities with jurisdiction are the ship’s flag state. Usually, those countries are small and remote, with no capacity to chase down and fight crime, which is why the high seas have become a breeding ground for such atrocities."

Long Er let out a breath, looking at Mo Fei with a helpless expression. "This isn't something we can handle."

Just like the civil war in Myanmar, this was not something a few individuals could turn around.

Mo Fei, of course, knew this. He asked with a dark expression, "Wasn't Li Momo working for Bai Yingxiong making drugs? She was his cash cow. Would he really be willing to cut down his own money tree?"

"People are the one thing there's no shortage of these days." As blood loss took its toll, Xiao Bai slumped to the ground, his voice growing fainter. "They killed several undercover cops just yesterday. What wouldn't they be capable of..."

Mo Fei caught the implication. His face changed drastically as he lunged forward, grabbing Xiao Bai by the collar and hauling him up. "What did you say? Who killed undercover cops? Explain yourself!"

A mocking smile appeared on Xiao Bai’s face. "In the scam zone, during a purge, three undercover cops revealed their identities and were killed anyway. What do you think?"

The situation hadn't been complicated, and they all knew exactly what the perpetrators were thinking. Undercover agents had infiltrated the zone, and they knew the truth about the crimes. If they let them go, there would be hell to pay. So, they decided to go all the way and kill them the moment they blew their cover, leaving no evidence behind and claiming they were just following orders, unaware of the victims' true identities.

They knew full well that killing a cop carried a much heavier penalty than killing a human trafficked victim. This was an act of sheer audacity; if it ever came to light, they would face an unstoppable wrath.

Now, Xiao Bai was facing that very wrath in the form of a furious clown.

"How dare they do that?!"

Mo Fei snatched the gun from Long Si’s hand and fired several shots at a dead tree. Wood splinters flew as the bullets struck.

Long Si stared at her empty hands, only reacting when she heard Mo Fei’s roar.

Someone had actually snatched the gun right out of her grip? And at a distance of over ten meters, Mo Fei had hit the tree with every single shot—was this guy really just acting this whole time?

Mo Fei was beyond furious. With red-rimmed eyes, he hauled Xiao Bai up again, pressing the muzzle of the pistol against his forehead. "I want you to go back and say every word of this in court!"
