Chapter 124: Who Doesn’t Know How? Feeling a Bit Frustrated!
Liu Xiaowan was utterly stunned when she saw Chu Lin. She never would have guessed that the client her uncle mentioned was actually the scoundrel brother of her best friend. She had been bullied by this man before at her friend’s house. Moreover, he had sneakily slipped away the next day without even a word of consolation or explanation. The most infuriating thing was that he still had the audacity to keep adding her on WeChat afterward. She had never met such a despicable man.
For a while, she had managed to move on emotionally, thinking she would never have to see this scoundrel again. Yet, fate had other plans, and here they were, meeting again under such circumstances. To make matters worse, her uncle wanted her to be his account manager. What kind of nonsense was this?
Still, considering that this man could casually gift her sister a pair of pearls worth 200,000 yuan, his wealth seemed plausible. Chu Lin was also pleasantly surprised to encounter this stunning woman again, especially since she had previously rejected all his WeChat requests. Yet, noticing her vexed expression, he immediately put on an unfamiliar smile, pretending not to recognize her, and greeted Sun Chang warmly: “Hello, Manager Sun.”
On the way there, Chu Lin had calmed himself and was no longer fazed by the man’s status. So what if he was a bank branch manager? Since the other party had taken the initiative to invite him, he clearly held the upper hand. After all, over ten million yuan in cash deposits was no small matter for a branch. He believed that his deposits would only increase, and more bank managers would seek him out in the future.
Chu Lin understood this dynamic, and so did Sun Chang. That afternoon, Sun Chang noticed another 6 million yuan transferred into Chu Lin’s account, coming from Mr. Wu—a wealthy businessman involved in real estate construction. Such a wealthy figure wasn’t even easy to meet for a branch manager. The fact that he had large-scale dealings with Chu Lin indicated that Chu Lin was no ordinary man; otherwise, he wouldn’t have connections with someone as affluent as Mr. Wu.
Perhaps through Chu Lin, they could attract even more deposits—maybe hundreds of millions.
“Mr. Chu, you’re truly remarkable. In Min City, few people your age meet the standards for our Black Card at China Merchants Bank,” Sun Chang said as he led Chu Lin to a seat. Then, with a smile, he turned to Liu Xiaowan, who still looked unsettled, and said, “Xiaowan, why don’t you bring us some drinks?”
Liu Xiaowan felt reluctant, but since her uncle had instructed her, she had no choice but to suppress her displeasure and, pretending not to know Chu Lin well, greeted him politely: “Hello, Mr. Chu.”
Sun Chang didn’t forget to introduce her: “Mr. Chu, this is Liu Xiaowan. She’ll be your account manager from now on. If you have any questions, you can contact her.”
“You’re really beautiful, Miss Liu,” Chu Lin smiled and complimented her, his gaze lingering on her curvaceous figure. In his mind, inappropriate images flashed unbidden, especially recalling the incredible sensation of her touch, which still lingered vividly.
Gradually, his eyes grew warmer and more intense. Liu Xiaowan could feel it; it was as if he was undressing her with his gaze, making her glare at him in annoyance.
She was truly helpless. How could her best friend have such a terrible brother? And more importantly, how had she ended up involved with him that day?
Suddenly realizing something, Chu Lin smiled slyly at Liu Xiaowan. “Miss Liu, since you’ll be my account manager, let’s add each other on WeChat for easier contact.”
With that, he pulled out his WeChat QR code, looking proudly at the stunning woman. Previously, she had rejected all his friend requests and might have even blocked him. But now that she was his account manager, there was no reason not to accept, especially with her uncle present.
Liu Xiaowan’s irritation grew at his smug expression. She had refused before, but now for work, she couldn’t find a reason to refuse, especially with her uncle involved. Reluctantly, she took out her phone, scanned his QR code, and sent a friend request.
Chu Lin immediately received the notification and saw her profile picture, her nickname “Smile at Life.” In a mischievous mood, he changed her remark to: “Stunning Beauty – Huge Breasts – Slightly Dizzy.”
Liu Xiaowan, annoyed, changed his remark to: “Little Scumbag!”
“Mr. Chu, would you like some wine?” Sun Chang, oblivious to the tension between them, offered. After all, to him, this was their first meeting, and they had just connected on WeChat.
“Sure, a little wine. But I drove here, so I’m afraid I won’t be able to drive back,” Chu Lin said with a sly look at Liu Xiaowan, hinting that she shouldn’t drink and should drive him home instead. Creating an opportunity to be alone and discuss last time’s incident sounded like a good plan.
Liu Xiaowan seemed to catch his drift. What did “if I drink, I can’t drive back” mean? There were only three people here; her uncle certainly wouldn’t drive for him. He wanted her to be the designated driver? Drive him home?
Sun Chang chuckled and said, “Mr. Chu, don’t worry about the car. I’ll have Xiaowan—”
“I’ll call a driver for you, Mr. Chu. I’ll toast you first,” Liu Xiaowan interrupted quickly, downing a glass of wine. She truly didn’t want her uncle to assign her as his driver.
Chu Lin was momentarily stunned. Had this stunning woman guessed his plan? Impossible! She wasn’t this clever when she was in his sister’s circle before.
“Mr. Chu, I’ve already had a drink,” Liu Xiaowan reminded as she set down her glass.
“Well then, I’ll have to drink a few more with Miss Liu tonight,” Chu Lin replied, helplessly going along with the flow.
Wang Desheng laughed and began to toast Chu Lin as well. At least the atmosphere was good, and the communication was pleasant.
One dish after another arrived, and Sun Chang toasted Chu Lin multiple times. They started by discussing the Black Card, praising his youthful success, then moved on to his aquaculture company and the Linyao Restaurant. They talked about the financial operations of these businesses, hoping to have their funds managed at China Merchants Bank in the future.
When Chu Lin mentioned plans to open another factory, Sun Chang offered loan services. For Black Card clients, the bank naturally hoped they would take out loans—after all, it was just lending back the money they had deposited.
As the dinner was winding down, Sun Chang arranged for Chu Lin to come by the bank the next day to pick up his Black Card.
Chu Lin looked at the stunning Liu Xiaowan, reluctant to end the evening so abruptly. Suddenly, he feigned a stumble, swaying as if unsteady, and said, “I’ve had a bit too much.”
Sun Chang quickly said, “Xiaowan, please help Mr. Chu. We’ll get him to the car.”
Having also drunk a fair amount, Sun Chang, as the branch manager, naturally delegated his subordinate to assist, as a matter of courtesy.
A sly smile of triumph crept onto Chu Lin’s lips.
Liu Xiaowan was dumbfounded. She knew his drinking capacity well—she and her friend couldn’t outdrink him, or she wouldn’t have ended up so dizzy that day. Now she was sober; there was no way he was truly drunk.
But with her uncle watching and this man performing, she couldn’t expose him. The more she tried, the more he might act, making her seem unreasonable.
Suppressing her anger, she stepped forward to support him, secretly squeezing his arm hard to get back at him—she wished she could crush him.
Chu Lin certainly felt the pinch but was unfazed. He shifted his weight against her, resting half his head on her ample chest.
Liu Xiaowan was nearly furious. How could he be so shameless?
Chu Lin didn’t care about shamelessness at all. He thoroughly enjoyed the moment all the way to his Cullinan.
However, when he reached his car, he was surprised to find another note stuck under the wiper blade.
“???” Could it be from those twin sisters again? So persistent, leaving notes every day?
He had failed to add them twice before, so his curiosity was piqued. But with Liu Xiaowan there, he couldn’t just reach for the note.
Liu Xiaowan, in a vengeful mood, tossed him onto the back seat and angrily pulled out her phone to call a driver. Earlier, her uncle and Chu Lin had discussed the aquaculture farm, so she booked that location for the driver.
The driver arrived quickly.
After instructing the driver, Sun Chang left with Liu Xiaowan, feeling reassured.
Only then did Chu Lin get up to retrieve the note from under the wiper, only to find it gone.
Where had it disappeared to? He glanced suspiciously at the driver.
“Sir, you need to go to No. 41 Pingjiang District Aquaculture Farm, correct?” the driver asked, sensing something off in his gaze.
Meanwhile, after parting ways with her uncle, Liu Xiaowan took a taxi home and immediately called her best friend Chu Yan for comfort.
“Yan, I’m so mad. Do you know who the client I met with today was?”
Chu Yan immediately felt indignant. “No matter who it was, you missed out on shopping because of them. I’m cursing that person for you.”
“The client was your brother,” Liu Xiaowan sighed.
“...” Chu Yan was stunned, never expecting that. She quickly backtracked, “Forget what I said earlier. Bye!” And hung up.
Liu Xiaowan heard the rapid hang-up and was about to complain about how fast it was.
Then, with a half-smile, she pulled out a note. Knowing she had ruined his plans lifted her spirits considerably.
Leaving a note under a Cullinan’s wiper was a classic move—she had heard about it too many times.
She instinctively searched the WeChat ID on the note. It belonged to a girl named Xiaohan.
Seeing the twin sisters’ beautiful, blooming photos in Xiaohan’s moments, she felt even more excited. If that scoundrel encountered these two, he wouldn’t hesitate to accept.
Now, having ruined his little romance, she felt a sweet sense of revenge.
She added Xiaohan on WeChat and sent a message: “The owner of that Cullinan is a scumbag—a really bad one!”
“None of your business!” Xiaohan replied.
“...” Liu Xiaowan was speechless.
“Also, thanks for the tip!” Xiaohan added.
“...” Liu Xiaowan was thoroughly bewildered. She had just been insulted, and now she was being thanked?
Thinking about having to deal with that scoundrel at the bank tomorrow to issue his card, she felt a bit gloomy.
