Chapter 92: Too Fast! The First Investment Promotion Conference!
Asking Huang Bin to call him "dad" was naturally a little joke on Chu Lin’s part. Who told this guy to always wager on sharing his surname whenever he lost a bet? Seeing his miserable expression, Chu Lin went straight to the internal breeding pool and scooped out three Atlantis oysters for him. Huang Bin didn’t even bother to wash them, heading to the kitchen to find a tool, prying them open and eating them raw. He really seemed depleted.
Witnessing this, Chu Lin resolved to take it as a warning. Now, with only Li Qian as his sole companion, he thought that should he ever meet another woman who truly moved him and whom he wished to maintain a long-term relationship with, he’d need to manage his time carefully. Each time, he would eat Atlantis oysters first; he mustn’t allow himself to end up so exhausted.
After devouring three oysters, Huang Bin left with renewed vigor, his arm draped proactively around Liu Yan, striding out like a new man. Not long after their departure, Chu Lin received another call from Chen Feng. Upon answering, Young Master Chen’s voice came through, “Brother Lin, do you have time to come to the office? The first batch of blue-ringed jellyfish has been cultivated and bred. Now, over a hundred thousand are nearly ready. We’ve contacted several aquatic pet merchants and are holding an investor conference tomorrow. I wanted to report the details to you.”
“So soon, already an investor conference?” Chu Lin couldn’t help but marvel. Calling it “soon” was an understatement; it was downright rushed. Like a film screening in rapid succession, not a moment wasted.
Chen Feng laughed, “It’s because our company’s breeding techniques are top-notch! The blue-ringed jellyfish mature quickly, ready in three days. Those in the jellyfish business can hardly believe it when we tell them.”
“All right, I’ll head over now,” Chu Lin responded with a smile.
The speed of cultivating the blue-ringed jellyfish was thanks to the blessing stone of Atlantis and their advanced techniques, but also Chen Feng’s familiarity with the aquatic pet market. Without him, they wouldn’t even know where to find those merchants, let alone organize a conference.
Driving out from the breeding grounds, Chu Lin soon arrived at the Jinmao Tower in Pingjiang District. Exiting the elevator on the ninth floor, he headed toward Linfeng Aquatic Pet Company, and his eyes lit up. At the front desk stood two delicate young women, taking selfies with their phones. Both wore identical strappy, body-hugging mini-dresses—the only difference was color, one pink, one white. The style accentuated their youthful charm.
These must be Chen Feng’s new hires for reception. The man certainly knew how to make an impression. For most companies, this was standard practice. Wasn’t it often said that a beautiful receptionist was the face of a company? When a client arrives, greeted by a lovely front desk staff with a radiant smile, the atmosphere is transformed.
The two receptionists quickly noticed Chu Lin, hurriedly stashing their phones in the desk drawer and simultaneously greeting him with sweet voices, “Welcome to Linfeng Aquatic Pets, sir!”
One of them, smiling brightly, walked up to Chu Lin, accompanied by a pleasant fragrance, and offered to guide him, “Sir, allow me to show you inside.”
Chu Lin smiled, feeling that the company truly possessed a sense of style.
Inside, he found the place bustling with people, mostly young men and women gathered around Chen Feng, Liao Hai, and Zhu Xin. Among them were Hong Hao, Zhang Ju, and Guo Feng, whom he’d previously met at Zhi Zhen. Beside Guo Feng was Shen Lu, dressed like a model student. It seemed this little tea-lover had thoroughly ensnared the wealthy Guo Feng, as he’d even brought her to the gathering.
These young people must be the second-generation elites from Chen Feng’s circle. Chu Lin guessed the reason for inviting them was to support tomorrow’s investor conference, lending the event some weight. After all, a regular conference crowded with people arriving in luxury cars, bearing flower baskets and congratulatory banners, creates a certain aura—an atmosphere of prestige. In essence, it’s no different from major companies inviting celebrities; only their business wasn’t big enough to warrant actual stars.
Suddenly, Chu Lin’s attention was drawn to a striking figure in the corner—it was Miss Cai, who’d gotten drunk with him the night before. She wore a simple yet elegant white dress and chatted happily with another woman, her face radiant. Chu Lin recalled that she too was part of Chen Feng’s circle and had been among those called to sample Atlantis oysters.
The woman she was chatting with appeared to be Liu Ling, whom Chu Lin had seen before at Tarski Jewelry. He had to admit that Miss Cai’s smile was truly captivating; perhaps because she was relaxed in this private setting, she seemed much brighter and more cheerful.
Yet, upon seeing her again, Chu Lin couldn’t help but recall the events of last night, as well as the enticing video he’d recorded on his phone. At that moment, Cai Yao seemed to sense something, glancing subconsciously toward Chu Lin, making him feel slightly embarrassed.
But why feel embarrassed? It was his mind that had decided to replay those scenes, not his fault.
Cai Yao, too, felt awkward, reminded of that video. It would have been fine if she didn’t know, but having witnessed herself doing such shameful things in front of a man made her cheeks burn.
Liu Ling noticed her friend’s unusual demeanor, followed her gaze, and teasingly whispered, “Yao Yao, your one-night lover has arrived.”
Cai Yao’s face flushed deeper. “Don’t be ridiculous, nothing happened between President Chu and me.”
“Of course nothing happened,” Liu Ling continued in a voice only the two could hear. “Even when someone was so alluring, he wasn’t moved!”
“Oh, you troublemaker!” Cai Yao, annoyed, reached out to pinch Liu Ling.
Forcing her hand, wasn’t she?
At that moment, Chen Feng spotted Chu Lin’s arrival and hurried over to greet him, “Brother Lin!” The surrounding young people all turned to look at Chu Lin, faces filled with surprise. They were part of the circles of Chen Feng, Liao Hai, and Zhu Xin, and knew that these three had recently latched onto Brother Lin and were embarking on a new business venture. Word had it that the jellyfish and breeding containers prepared for this investor conference were worth over ten million.
Such an ambitious start promised limitless prospects. Though they were wealthy second-generation heirs, most were only beginning their own ventures or had failed and were idly waiting for something new. They envied the trio deeply.
They too wanted to succeed, but even in today’s society, being a rich heir didn’t guarantee entrepreneurial success. The saying went, “Don’t fear rich kids wasting family wealth, fear them starting businesses.” They wanted to refute such cynicism, but lacked the strength.
Thus, they were curious about Brother Lin, who had created such a project and brought others along—something rare in their circles. They hadn’t expected Brother Lin to be so young, and even more handsome than themselves. How unfair!
Zhang Ju and Hong Hao hadn’t expected President Chu to be so formidable. When they dined at Zhi Zhen, they’d assumed he was simply a seafood supplier, perhaps offering better oysters. They had money, after all, and could easily afford a few oysters. Who could have guessed he was so impressive? They had missed a golden opportunity.
Shen Lu, too, saw Chu Lin. Her earlier dissatisfaction vanished. She’d thought Chu Lin was just a farm owner with some money, so she’d agreed when he offered to buy her a bag. Now she realized he was far more impressive—so much so that even these wealthy heirs wanted to associate with him. Had she known, she would have refused the bag, leaving a good impression and perhaps enjoying more than just a single encounter.
Now that her situation was clear, she knew there was no future possibility.
Guo Feng, full of admiration, confided to Shen Lu, “Honestly, I misjudged President Chu. He’s far more capable than me.”
Shen Lu pursed her lips. “Not just a little more—he’s leagues ahead of you!”
That thought eased her mind. However formidable Chu Lin was, she’d already slept with him.
Guo Feng continued, “If the opportunity arises, I’d like to learn from President Chu!”
