Chapter 63: Sprouting Overnight! The Core of the Circle!
Even ordinary sungrass in reality, once it manages to reproduce and survive, grows at an astonishing rate. The Atlantis sungrass, with its additional +2 growth speed attribute, was expected to grow even faster. Yet Chulin never imagined that the Atlantis sungrass seeds he had soaked the previous night would not only sprout, but already produce a long, tender shoot. The seeds had swollen like bean sprouts, nearly bursting the bucket they were in. The speed was simply astounding—it looked as though they might reach maturity in just a few days.
Chulin set aside the buckets of seeds, then moved the day’s batch of Atlantis oysters, bright prawns, and blue-ringed jellyfish out of the game. Afterwards, he prepared some breakfast and ate with Liu Xiao. Not long after, Liu Fa arrived at the farm to ship out goods.
Chulin re-entered the game, took out the soaked Atlantis sungrass seeds from last night, and headed to the five-hundred-acre bay. He planned to plant these buckets of sprouted Atlantis sungrass seeds in the bay first.
He’d checked information on sungrass the previous night. There were two key points to note when planting sungrass seeds: one was calculating the density, as too many seeds in one spot would mean insufficient nutrients and space for each plant to grow. The other was considering the water flow. If the current was too strong, the seeds would drift and struggle to take root. In such cases, one should wrap the seeds in silt before spreading them evenly in the water, so that a layer of silt would cover the seeds once they reached the bottom.
However, the bay was currently at normal water level, calm with no wind or rain, and the current wasn’t strong. After a bit of experimentation, Chulin found that the seeds would sink and adhere to the bottom upon being tossed into the water, so he didn’t need to bother with the extra steps—he just had to watch the density and could scatter the seeds directly.
So, he began to paddle his inflatable raft, scattering seeds into the water. Thanks to the crystal-clear water, he could clearly see the seeds as they settled. It took him half a day, but he managed to evenly distribute all the Atlantis sungrass seeds from several buckets over a designated area.
After calculating the area those buckets would cover, he realized that to fully cover the five hundred acres of the bay, he’d only need about half the seeds refreshed by the game map. As for the artificial breeding pools inside the farm, which had sealed plastic bottoms, there was no way to plant anything there. In any case, with the bay as a source, the water in the breeding farm was just as clear, since it was all drawn from the bay.
That shouldn’t be a problem, right?
With this in mind, Chulin ordered another batch of water buckets online. At the same time, he dove into the bay and, following his previous records, collected more Atlantis Blessing Stones, intending to place them in the new buckets for soaking more Atlantis sungrass seeds.
There was already a surplus of Atlantis Blessing Stones in the bay, with the purified water overflowing the isolation nets into nearby areas. Now, with the imminent planting of sungrass—another purifying species—removing a batch of Blessing Stones wouldn’t affect the bay at all.
Once the stones were taken from the water, the special patterns on them dulled immediately. This was the third attribute of the Atlantis Blessing Stones: once removed from water, they needed to be returned to the Atlantis map in-game to reactivate. So, if he gave these stones to someone else while the markings were dormant, they’d be of no use.
Before long, the new batch of buckets arrived. Chulin brought them into the breeding farm, filled them with water, and dropped a Blessing Stone into each. He then took them all into the game. The moment the stones re-entered the game map, their special patterns lit up again, and their attributes reactivated.
Without hesitation, Chulin loaded more than half the refreshed Atlantis sungrass seeds into these buckets. By the next morning, when he entered the game again to transport prawns, oysters, and jellyfish, the seeds in the buckets had all sprouted just as before, already showing a good length of shoot.
He took these seeds out of the game and brought them once more to the bay. After a day and a night, when he gazed into the water, he was astonished to see that the seeds he’d sown the previous day had put down roots and attached to the bottom, and had grown a substantial stretch of stem and leaves. The areas he’d seeded were now marked by clear swathes of green.
Seeing this, Chulin climbed onto the raft to continue planting. It took him a full two days to complete the entire project. By that time, the sungrass sown on the first day had reached the length of an adult’s middle finger, swaying gently in the current, appearing soft and ethereal. Even at this stage, it was already beautiful.
Looking at the scene, Chulin’s face was full of anticipation. At this rate, the sea grass would mature in less than a week, and by then, the underwater scenery would surely be even more stunning.
...
Time passed, and another day dawned. After delivering goods to Zhizhen, Liu Fa handed a receipt to Chulin. “Mr. Chu, this is for you.”
“Thanks.” Chulin took the receipt and was about to put it in his office drawer when his phone suddenly rang. The caller was Chen Feng.
He answered.
Chen Feng’s voice came through the line: “Brother Lin, early this morning I picked up all the necessary documents from the business bureau.”
“Good, let’s meet today and discuss the next steps,” Chulin replied with a smile.
Chen Feng responded eagerly, “Brother Lin, come to the Jinmao Building at Beach 41—I have a surprise for you.”
A surprise? Chulin was curious about what Chen Feng was up to this time. After hanging up, he drove out of the breeding farm.
The Jinmao Building at Beach 41 wasn’t far from the farm; it was a commercial office building leased to various companies. Chulin parked his car outside and spotted Chen Feng already waiting downstairs.
Behind Chen Feng stood two young men, who, judging by their attire, seemed to be wealthy heirs as well.
As Chulin got out of the car, Chen Feng greeted him with a beaming smile. “Brother Lin, you’re here!”
“What’s going on?” Chulin asked, puzzled.
“Come upstairs with me and you’ll see,” Chen Feng replied with a grin, then waved to the two wealthy youths. “Didn’t you both say you admired Brother Lin? Now that he’s here, aren’t you going to say hello?”
The two young men immediately approached with enthusiasm.
“Brother Lin, my name is Liao Hai. It’s an honor to meet you!”
“Brother Lin, I’m Zhu Xin—very pleased to make your acquaintance.”
Their words carried a hint of flattery. Among their peers, Chen Feng was already someone they looked up to for having succeeded in starting his own business. After all, their own ventures had ended in losses, so much so that their elders had told them to simply give up.
Yet the Chen Feng they admired was now working with this Brother Lin, investing eight million and leveraging his own connections for just a thirty percent share—evidence of how significant this project was.
In the entire city of Min, there were very few young people able to lead others in such major ventures, and each was the core of their own circle.
Such circles were not easily joined. Now, with the chance to meet Brother Lin, the two heirs were eager to join his circle, hoping they might be invited along for the ride.
