Volume One, Chapter 126: Someone Cares
"I'll take you on."
A cold, clear female voice rang out from afar, stepping in to accept Ning Muyu's challenge on Mo De's behalf.
The three of them were startled and turned their heads in unison, only to see a slender figure walking over from the training room.
It was Su Ziwen. She was gently rubbing her temples as she walked toward Ning Muyu, clearly having heard the challenge Ning Muyu had issued to Mo De.
"Who are you?" Ning Muyu raised an eyebrow, surprised that someone would actually stand up for that cheater.
"Su Ziwen, from Tianshui in Qin City," Su Ziwen said as she stepped forward, positioning herself between Ning Muyu and Mo De.
Standing to the side, Xuanyuan Kong, who had intended to intervene and mediate, found himself at a loss, unsure whether he should stop the furious Ning Muyu or persuade the cool-headed Su Ziwen.
"Never heard of you," Ning Muyu scoffed. Among all the students at the winter camp, the only ones she paid attention to were those ranked ahead of her.
Wait, Tianshui, Qin City...?
Ning Muyu suddenly realized something. Wasn't that guy Mo De also from Tianshui High School in Qin City?
"Are you from the same school as that cheater?" Ning Muyu glanced at Su Ziwen, her eyes filled with even deeper disdain.
Hearing the word "cheater" again, Su Ziwen’s expression turned even frostier.
She pressed her fingers harder against her temples, suppressing the waves of dizziness brought on by her practice of spatial abilities.
"Who are you calling a cheater?" Su Ziwen countered with a question, her attitude a stark departure from her usual demeanor.
"Who else? None other than—" Ning Muyu waved her slender hand, about to point at Mo De again.
"Nobody, nobody at all!" A figure suddenly appeared, grabbing Ning Muyu’s raised hand and forcibly pushing it down.
Everyone felt a sudden breeze sweep through the area, and the next moment, the pudgy figure of Ning Chengfeng was standing between Ning Muyu and Su Ziwen, abruptly cutting off their conversation.
Xuanyuan Kong, standing nearby, felt his pupils contract slightly, secretly amazed at how fast Ning Chengfeng had moved.
"What do you think you're doing, Ning Cheng—mph!" Ning Muyu had barely shouted two words at her younger brother before he covered her mouth, silencing her.
"My sister has caused everyone trouble, so sorry about that!" The round-bodied Ning Chengfeng smiled, revealing two dimples on his cheeks, looking very amiable and sincere.
"We’ll be taking our leave now, and we’ll come back to apologize to you all later!" After waving to Mo De and Su Ziwen, Ning Chengfeng dragged the struggling Ning Muyu away from the Phenomena Hall in a flash.
"What on earth was that all about?" Seeing the crisis averted, Xuanyuan Kong let out a long sigh of relief and turned to ask Mo De.
"I have no idea. The moment that girl saw me, she was like a lit powder keg. She came over looking for trouble without saying a word," Mo De shrugged, equally bewildered.
"I think young Brother Chengfeng is quite reasonable. If you have time, you could seek him out privately and ask what’s going on with his sister," Xuanyuan Kong walked over to Mo De and whispered in his ear: "I think this classmate of yours from Tianshui has quite a temper too; you should probably go comfort her."
Xuanyuan Kong patted Mo De on the shoulder and hurried away. If he delayed any longer, that guy Xiao Qi would be finishing his seclusion.
After waving goodbye to Xuanyuan Kong, Mo De walked back to Su Ziwen. He couldn't help but feel that she was acting strangely. She wasn't usually such an assertive or domineering person.
"Class monitor, what’s wrong?" Seeing Su Ziwen still holding her head, Mo De asked with concern.
"Just help me get back to my room," Su Ziwen said softly, her tone no longer as sharp as before.
After the earth-shattering events in the training room earlier, followed by the confrontation with Ning Muyu, Su Ziwen was truly exhausted.
Previously, while she was meditating in the training room, the spatial energy circulating within her had suddenly seemed to reach a critical point, beginning to gather and condense frantically in one spot.
A brand-new power, nurtured by her spatial ability, had quietly broken its shell and erupted within her.
Silver-white light burst forth from her body, the force pushing back the high-density spatial particles surrounding her.
Startled by the profound changes, Su Ziwen had managed to steady her mind, attempting to calm the turbulent energy and master this new strength.
It felt like the very first time she had awakened. This new power, much like that initial stir of energy, left her feeling both estranged and expectant.
This new power seemed to be spatial in nature as well, yet it was worlds apart from her previous abilities. Before, her spatial power had only been about simple modifications and shifts in spatial positioning. But now, she had a profound, ethereal intuition, as if behind the "paper" that held spatial coordinates, there were even more complex and hidden secrets.
Faintly, Su Ziwen sensed the existence of a "world membrane."
The intense shock brought on by the mutation of her spatial ability forced her to end her training session early and leave the room to soothe the dizziness shaking her mind.
Dizzy and disoriented, she had walked back to the main hall only to hear someone shouting from afar.
"Miss Ning, may I ask what the problem is?" A familiar voice drifted over—it was Mo De.
Su Ziwen frowned, the dizziness in her head intensifying. What was he doing now? Why was he arguing with another student from the winter camp?
Miss... Ning?
An indescribable feeling of irritation welled up in Su Ziwen’s heart, joining forces with the dizziness to shake her rationality.
And the moment Ning Muyu shouted "cheater" and issued that challenge to Mo De, Su Ziwen had truly become angry.
Even though her body still felt terrible, she walked forward to accept the challenge for him.
She knew that, given Mo De’s personality, he would never agree to a duel, as he had always been indifferent to the opinions of others.
Back when his abilities were late to awaken and he was secretly mocked by classmates, Mo De had remained his usual self, going to school and coming home, happily hitting the books. Even after the assessment results were posted and he became the focus of the whole school's gossip, he remained the same—complaining about his heavy workload with a troubled face.
He could ignore external criticism, ignore the smears and defamation.
But I cannot.
If you ask why?
Isn't it enough that I am his class monitor?
