“I still have a small meeting to hold in my room later, so I won’t be able to keep you company, Qing. This afternoon, everyone may choose whichever popular-science lecture interests them.” Chen Yue raised her wrist to check the time and, seeing that the meeting was about to begin, stood up and picked up her tray.

“Remember, though, under no circumstances are you to leave the Sanyi University campus. And try to avoid secluded places as much as possible.” After admonishing the four youngsters, Chen Yue waved and turned to leave.

“I’m going back to my room for a nap. Anyone coming with me?” Mu Qing stretched luxuriously after eating her fill.

Aside from Yu Jiuchuan, whose expression remained perfectly calm, the other three were all slightly dazed.

It was truly a breathtakingly magnificent sight.

“I’m heading straight to the library later, so I won’t be attending the afternoon lectures.” Yu Jiuchuan closed the booklet in his hands and informed everyone of his plans.

Once they came back to themselves, Su Ziwen and Ivanotti announced that they would return to the guest apartment with Mu Qing before going to attend the afternoon lectures.

“Then I’ll go back too.” Mo De also prepared to return to his room.

He had been planning to find some time to secretly meet Ning Chengfeng, Ning’s younger brother, and find out exactly what was going on with that sister of his who was apparently built like a gas stove.

At the cafeteria exit, the group split into two. Mo De, Mu Qing, and the others returned to the dormitory, while Yu Jiuchuan went alone to the library.

After returning to his room and closing the door, Su Ziwen wearily took out his phone and set an alarm, planning to take a short nap and let his body recover.

His earlier medical examination had shown that there was basically nothing wrong with him, though some of his senses were still slightly disordered. Lunch had been utterly flavorless to him, like chewing on a lump of wax.

The doctor had told Su Ziwen not to worry. Those symptoms would return to normal after a day or two.

He removed his outer clothes and lay down on the bed. As he pulled the covers over himself, he suddenly wrinkled his nose.

It seemed that his sense of smell had malfunctioned just like his sense of taste.

Otherwise, why would Mu Qing’s scent still linger on his blanket?

Thinking of Mu Qing, who had sat beside him during lunch, Su Ziwen unconsciously brought his small hands together before him and gave his two promising assets a gentle press. Then he let out a soft sigh, closed his eyes, and slowly drifted off to sleep.

After returning to her own room, Ivanotti stretched out both hands and traced circles in the air, clicking her tongue in admiration at Teacher Mu Qing’s excellent figure.

“But Senior Jiuchuan’s assets don’t seem inferior to Teacher Mu Qing’s by much either. It’s just that Senior Jiuchuan wears that tracksuit all day long, covering herself from head to toe so thoroughly…”

Little Feng’s awareness was remarkably advanced. She had already learned to see through appearances and gaze directly upon the essence of things…

…

“You’ve met that Teacher Huo before?” Inside the room, Mu Qing had already claimed the large bed, while Mo De sat cross-legged on the sofa, munching on a cucumber.

“I met her in the library. She seemed to realize then that I wasn’t a student of Sanyi University.” Mo De accepted the yogurt Mu Qing tossed to him, peeled back the lid, licked the rim, and replied.

Since Huo Yufei had joined them midway, Mo De and Mu Qing had felt too embarrassed to get up and go back for seconds after finishing their first meal. Now that they were back in the room, they could secretly enjoy a little extra food.

“Don’t drop crumbs all over my bed!” Mo De frowned when he saw Mu Qing pull several packets of crispy noodles from her scabbard.

“We’re not colanders.” After bribing Mo De with one packet, Mu Qing tore open the bag, sprinkled the seasoning evenly over the noodles, and began eating with great relish.

“Little Su has already fallen asleep, and nothing unexpected happened. I told you—a fortuitous connection to a higher realm isn’t something that appears just anywhere.” Mu Qing looked toward the diagonally opposite room. Her gaze seemed to pierce through the intervening wall and lock directly onto Su Ziwen, who was sleeping soundly on his bed.

“Can those sunglasses of yours see through walls?” Mo De asked curiously.

“Have you never heard of sensing aura?” Mu Qing tossed the unopened doughnut at him and said irritably, “Don’t make me sound like some kind of peeping Tom.”

Mo De tore open the frosted doughnut and dispatched his after-meal dessert in three bites. After brushing the sugar from his hands, he took out his phone and prepared to message Ning Chengfeng, to see whether he had time to meet.

Mo De had obtained Ning’s younger brother’s phone number through that fellow Yan Ruoting.

With nothing but his mouth, Little Yan had chatted with everyone in the winter camp from top to bottom. His ability to make new friends could only be described as terrifying.

Even setting aside the benefits he had gained from cultivation, the value he had accumulated solely through his social connections was already considerable.

“What exactly happened to you this morning?” Mu Qing asked curiously. What kind of person could possibly come into conflict with someone as mild-tempered as Mo De?

“I have no idea either.” Mo De shrugged helplessly and recounted the conflict that had occurred in the Hall of Anomalies that morning.

“That’s outrageous! Absolutely outrageous!” After hearing the story, Mu Qing clenched her fists and shouted through gritted teeth.

Mo De looked at her in surprise. Since when had Mu Qing become so conscientious? Was she actually standing up for him?

“For something this entertaining to happen while I was away—how outrageous!” Mu Qing lamented, heartbroken that she had missed the chance to watch the spectacle in person.

Sure enough, this woman had probably grown up developing only her chest and never her conscience.

He really must have been out of his mind to entertain such a thought just now.

“Stop lazing around in my room all the time. Go back to your own bed!”

“What more could you possibly want when you have a beautiful woman here to chat with?” The beautiful woman took out a packet of sunflower seeds, sat at the head of the bed, and began cracking them with sharp little snaps. “Oh, right. You distracted me, and I completely forgot what we were talking about at the beginning.”

“What?” Mo De lay down on the sofa as well.

“That curious woman, Huo Yufei.” Mu Qing spat the shells into the instant-noodle bag, putting the waste to good use through green recycling.

“Teacher Huo is quite a bit older than you, isn’t she?” Mo De turned his head toward Mu Qing, who was curled up on the bed, and suddenly remembered that she had not even celebrated her twentieth birthday yet.

“That Auntie Huo is no simple character.” Mu Qing corrected his choice of words, earning another roll of the eyes from Mo De.

“Call her Teacher Huo.”

“All right, all right. Whatever you say.”

A muscle twitched at Mo De’s temple. He felt that if he continued spending time with Mu Qing like this, his ability to remain calm would sooner or later reach perfection.

“What’s the matter with Teacher Huo?” That woman in the green dress had not made a bad first impression on Mo De.

“I just feel that she seems awfully interested in you.” Mu Qing shrugged. “You haven’t secretly been flirting with her, have you?”

“Flirting with her? Not a chance.” Mo De replied irritably. “If we’re talking about interest, she was just as curious about Little Feng. Maybe that’s simply the kind of person Teacher Huo is.”

“That’s true.” Mu Qing scratched her cheek and studied Mo De, who was lying on the sofa with his eyes closed.

With a face like his, he really was incapable of making someone fall in love with him at first sight.

His features belonged to the sort that grew on you. The longer one looked at him, the more pleasing he gradually became.
