Chapter 112: Why Are You Angry?
Lunch was arranged in the school-run cafeteria of Experimental Academy. All the contestants and their accompanying teachers were assigned to a separate area, while the regular students of Experimental Academy sat elsewhere, quietly whispering among themselves as they ate the cafeteria food. Their gazes frequently swept over the contestants, with at least ninety percent of their attention fixed on Qin Anyi. After the morning’s remarkable achievements, nearly everyone had heard about the two astounding feats he had accomplished.
Because of the knowledge competition today, the cafeteria business was busier than ever before.
“Why do I feel like a celebrity? Even just eating a meal, people are blatantly staring at me,” Qin Anyi muttered gloomily, carrying his tray. Wang Yiran sat beside him, while Shi Le sat across from him. The team leaders gathered at another table, eating and chatting among themselves. These teachers were mostly acquaintances and, taking advantage of the knowledge competition, had come together to catch up after the morning’s events.
Wang Yiran had expected it would take a great deal of effort to persuade Shi Le. After all, the things she had said sounded rather extravagant from a normal person’s perspective—something ordinary people would never understand and would likely think her crazy. Yet, unexpectedly... Shi Le had agreed just like that?!
Wang Yiran felt her mind go a little fuzzy, glancing at Qin Anyi, who wore a face full of astonishment, and then at Shi Le, who did not even blink. She couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. She wondered what kind of divine encounter had brought these two unusual people into her life—either they scared people to death or they simply made things unbearable.
“Uh... Shi Le, do you understand what Yiran was talking about? Do you know what choosing the second path means? This isn’t a decision you can change later. It will determine your entire fate,” Qin Anyi felt it necessary to remind Shi Le.
“I know,” Shi Le nodded calmly, expressionless. “The first path is safe, the second dangerous, so I choose the second.”
Qin Anyi blinked, suddenly feeling completely unable to follow Shi Le’s absurd logic. He raised his hands in surrender and returned his focus to his meal.
“The path of the second choice will be full of thorns. Once you move forward, you can never turn back. I hope you consider this carefully and don’t make a hasty decision,” Wang Yiran said seriously.
“Don’t you want me to choose the second path?” Shi Le asked curiously.
“Of course not! But I hope you make your decision after deep thought,” Wang Yiran replied, feeling a bit flustered. She had never realized how difficult communicating with Shi Le could be.
“I have thought it through thoroughly,” Shi Le nodded earnestly.
“But you agreed without a second thought just now,” Qin Anyi said.
“I’ve been thinking all morning. Besides, the greater the danger, the greater the opportunity. In life... there are few chances to truly take a gamble,” Shi Le’s face showed a rare flicker of emotion.
Wang Yiran stared at her in silence, finally sighing helplessly. “Alright, for the rest of the matters, I will assign someone to coordinate with you. The coordinator will explain everything you need to know, and you can ask them any questions you have.”
Shi Le nodded. Her calm response left Wang Yiran feeling somewhat defeated.
“Qin Anyi!”
Just as Qin Anyi was burying his head in his food, a voice filled with resentment floated over. He swallowed his mouthful and looked up, realizing it was from that student at Experimental Academy... what was his name again?
“Uh... sorry, I forgot your name. Who are you?” Qin Anyi asked frankly. Honesty was always his virtue.
“Qin Anyi! Don’t get cocky! This afternoon, I will make sure you pay back every bit of the humiliation you gave me!” Wang Fei snapped angrily.
Actually, Wang Fei just wanted to say a few things to save face. After all, he had lost so badly this morning that if he didn’t say something, he would feel uncomfortable. But when Qin Anyi pretended not to recognize him, Wang Fei’s anger exploded instantly. Any plans for polite words vanished. After shouting, he turned and stormed away.
Qin Anyi watched Wang Fei’s furious retreat with a baffled expression, then turned to Wang Yiran and asked curiously, “Why is he so angry?”
“Uh... it’s nothing, probably just a bad mood,” Wang Yiran replied.
