Chapter 123: The Appearance of Golog's True Form
"Niu Nima, you moron."
"……Is having good gear such a big deal? I bet I could do better than you, you jerk!"
"How much did that thruster of yours actually cost? Can you give us a hint?"
The chat was incredibly active. Huang Yunshuo thought of a way to see what the messages were saying clearly: he disabled the scrolling chat. This paused the influx of new messages on his streaming interface, allowing him to browse the comments at his leisure. Once he was done, he would re-enable the scroll, and after a new batch of messages refreshed, he would freeze it again. It must be said, this method made reading the chat much easier.
The atmosphere in the stream had changed. Unlike the previous sessions where people just hurled insults, the viewers were now far more interested in his equipment, skills, and combat techniques. Questions and discussions related to the game occupied the vast majority of the chat.
[Agent gifted "Airplane" x1 to the streamer!]
[Not Enough Fuel gifted "Airplane" x1 to the streamer!]
[Yamamoto's Small Cannon gifted "Airplane" x1 to the streamer!]
Every now and then, an airplane icon would fly across the screen. Huang Yunshuo wondered if he should thank them, but considering the cool, detached persona he had been maintaining, he decided to let it slide.
"Stone Terrace Town is now considered one of the most famous towns. Having you all watch the entire combat process is a rare opportunity that money can't buy, so it's only right that you shower me with some gifts. I accept them without guilt," Huang Yunshuo said, nodding at the stream with shameless confidence.
"……"
"WTF? You *******!"
"Whoever gifts him is my son."
"Get lost!"
Ignoring the barrage of chaotic comments, Huang Yunshuo felt an itch to start a giveaway. Setting a few aside for himself, he had 40 bottles of minor magic recovery spray available. Seeing the streaming interface switch to the trade menu, he lined up the bottles one by one. The chat was instantly flooded with messages of "Giveaway again."
"This guy went broke making that thruster, let's not participate in the giveaway, let him starve!"
"Right, the giveaway is a trap. Everyone, go back to playing the game, don't pay him any mind."
"He's a black-hearted, blood-sucking streamer. Let's report him and stop watching!"
"Trash streamer, what are you giving away? Get lost, get lost, get lost."
"Everyone, don't be fooled. The winners of this guy's giveaways are all his own people. He's just moving prizes from his left hand to his right to scam us for gifts and boost his popularity!"
The tone of the chat took a bizarre turn. Everyone was shouting to ignore the giveaway and warning new viewers not to fall for Huang Yunshuo’s schemes, with many threatening to stop watching altogether. Yet, the chat moved faster and faster, and his popularity score climbed higher and higher. When he checked earlier after feeding the enemy a kill, his popularity was around 200,000; now, it was approaching 400,000. Meanwhile, his follower count was nearing 500,000. It was truly a mysterious set of data.
"Fame comes as fast as a tornado!"
He recalled how anxious he had been last night about switching streaming platforms, worried he would flop and even spending a fortune on promotion. Yet, before dawn had even broken, the heat in this stream had completely crushed his previous one.
"Let's get the giveaway started. Since my time is precious, I'll count down from 10, then take a screenshot every second. I'll pick 40 people in 40 seconds. As usual, I'll state this clearly: the magic recovery spray isn't free, but it's not expensive either! Either 200 copper coins or 30,000 credit points, your choice!" Huang Yunshuo announced.
In truth, with his current flight capabilities, if he could find the right opportunity, he could scavenge money on the battlefield much faster—picking up hundreds or thousands of copper coins in minutes wasn't out of the question. Of course, Huang Yunshuo didn't have that luxury right now; time was extremely tight. If he ran off to waste energy picking up coins now, the players would likely want to kill him 10,000 times over. Since that was the case, he couldn't miss this chance to make some quick cash on the side. Magic recovery spray was no longer a necessity for him, so he might as well trade it for money; the creation of the thruster had truly drained him dry.
"10!"
Huang Yunshuo began the countdown, keeping an eye on the movements of the army of small animals beneath the castle. He had essentially crippled the Sloth Knights by himself, so the main threats active below the city walls had shifted to the Macaque Knights. The Macaque Knights were incredibly dangerous. As long as the Piglets stood beneath the wall, the macaques' superior jumping ability allowed them to leap onto the first level of the ramparts. If thousands of level-9 monsters swarmed the walls, Stone Terrace Town would likely be declared a failed defense in an instant. This was the exact reason Huang Yunshuo had supported Li Nan in opening the southern gate.
"1!"
The countdown ended. Amidst the frenzy of gift effects, he took screenshots and posted the 40 images on the streaming interface, telling everyone to pay up first and that he would send the sprays once he was finished.
"Open the gate now, the ones below!"
A large number of Macaque Knights that had been tailing him had lost their target and were now ferociously lunging at various sections of the wall. Huang Yunshuo felt a jolt of alarm and quickly shouted to the players below. Taking advantage of the fact that there were still plenty of White Geese outside to act as a buffer, if they opened the gate, the Macaque Knights would choose to queue up at the entrance rather than scale the walls. With three million players defending a single gate, they could hold it even by throwing bodies at it.
As the southern gate slowly groaned open, the Macaque Knights abandoned their assault on the ramparts and began to converge on the gate. In the brief moment the gate had been opening, hundreds of macaques had already jumped onto the first level of the wall, where they were currently harvesting players. A massive crowd of players swarmed over, dozens or hundreds pinning down small groups of macaques, dealing countless small instances of damage until they finally managed to take down the monsters at a significant cost.
"They dropped Kiwi Fruit! It increases the maximum HP limit, good stuff! Hahaha!" A player who picked up the items dropped by the macaques roared with joy. Soon, someone posted the stats of the Kiwi Fruit in the Brotherhood chat: +10 HP, can only be consumed once. It was quite decent; for ordinary players, it was a solid boost.
"Cock-a-doodle-doo!!!"
A vast sea of small roosters came running rapidly toward the southern gate. Their bright red combs wobbled with every step, and their speed was so fast it made the players' eyelids twitch. Behind them, tents were being packed up, and two hundred humanoid monsters carrying weapons followed in the wake of the rooster flock, approaching slowly.
A particularly magnificent, robust rooster appeared in Huang Yunshuo's field of vision, strutting proudly under the protection of hundreds of excited small roosters. Its feathers were iridescent, protecting its body like armor and reflecting various colors in the sunlight. Its bright red comb looked like a burning flame, its beak and talons were sharp and powerful, and its legs were thick and long, appearing to contain explosive strength.
Huang Yunshuo took one look and felt the urge to retreat. He sensed that this thing was definitely not something he could handle alone, even with his ever-increasing stats and the ability to fly briefly.
