Chapter Seventy-Eight: "Journey Through Time and Space" Competitive Instance
When the time comes, soaring above the dense army of small creatures, not only will his survival skills be greatly enhanced, but the possibility of executing a decapitation strike on the main body of Clucklor finally becomes attainable. Of course, everything remains uncertain until the properties of the alloy armor and the thruster are revealed.
“We’ll see which material gets collected first. If, in the end, only one can be forged, then so be it.”
The players inside the mine were restless. On one hand, they were eager to venture out—whether to join the processing guild or to tackle the newly released dungeon—but on the other, they were reluctant to squander the mining opportunity they had purchased for fifty thousand credits.
“You brats, what’s the rush?” Huang Yunshuo snorted coldly. “Will running dungeons with the guild earn you copper coins? With copper coins, everything’s possible; without them, you have nothing. Brains are a good thing.”
Many players suddenly saw the light, suppressing their urge to leave and instead redoubling their mining efforts with renewed vigor.
[“Voyage Through Time and Space” – Large Competitive Dungeon]
Type: PvE + PvP
Victory Conditions: Collect designated quest items, destroy the enemy’s resurrection hall
Quest Item Drops: Dropped from wild monsters; PvP can force drop a certain quantity of materials from opponents
Player Limit: 5000 + 5000
Rewards: Fragment of the “Voyage Through Time and Space” scroll, copper coins
“Voyage Through Time and Space” Scroll: Allows cross-space travel, instantly reaching places thousands of miles away. The farther the journey, the more scrolls required.
“This is great—players are finally no longer confined to a small town. Guild members and elite players will love this change.”
A PvE dungeon with ten thousand players competing in PvP—Huang Yunshuo’s heart raced; it was impossible not to be tempted.
He quietly opened the trade interface, placing all twenty-one grade-nine ores—except for the twenty he’d promised to give away in his stream—onto the platform. He clicked confirm and traded them to Ye Piaoxue.
This woman had an insatiable craving for PvP and was now short on copper coins. Unable to leave the mine himself, Huang Yunshuo simply handed her the ores, trusting she could find Old Song.
Twenty-one grade-nine ores: three could be exchanged for three hundred copper coins, the remaining eighteen for nine hundred; twelve hundred copper coins would surely solve her problem.
“My chest aches; Piaoxue never used to rely on me like this.”
Stifling his pain, Huang Yunshuo set the mining to automatic. While his body labored, he opened his streaming channel and continued browsing the update notes.
The universal server shop was exactly as the name implied—every player could trade goods there. Given the vast market, prices remained stable unless a particular item underwent a collective surge or drop. Countless traders and players camped in the shop around the clock, buying low and selling high.
New players or those eager to offload goods often posted items at low prices; ordinary players could only dream of snatching them up before they vanished. Conversely, selling items above market price became increasingly difficult.
[Brotherhood]
Player limit: 500 members. United brothers can break gold. Within a hundred-meter radius, each Brotherhood member increases all allied players’ health by 0.5‰, up to a maximum of 25% extra health.
Brotherhood Warehouse: A remote, communal warehouse with five hundred slots. Brotherhood members can deposit or withdraw items as they please; the guild leader and vice leader have management rights.
If five hundred Brotherhood members gather, for example, a player with two hundred health could immediately increase their health to two hundred fifty. This is a wildly powerful mechanic!
That five-hundred-slot remote warehouse, if used poorly, could lead to chaos as players scramble for communal goods. Used wisely, it becomes an unparalleled transfer station.
Players whose backpacks are full can transfer items via the Brotherhood warehouse, or stash important equipment and materials inside during emergencies to avoid losing them in PvP.
All in all, the Brotherhood warehouse, though seemingly ordinary, is actually fascinating. It highlights the “brotherhood” aspect to an extreme. If the members are truly loyal, treating everyone as a brother and knowing what’s appropriate, this communal warehouse is like a bug—otherwise, it’s an explosive fuse, ready to turn friends against each other in an instant.
Leaderboard optimization: added “Wealth Leaderboard,” “Brotherhood Leaderboard,” and “Hall of Fame.”
Unmoved by the new leaderboards, Huang Yunshuo checked the previous ones.
There was no point checking the level leaderboard; he doubted he’d ever make it to the top. After being knocked back to level fourteen, he’d risen again, but with ten thousand places to fill, he’d likely never even crack the top million.
First place: “Sorrow Comes From Within,” Elemental, Level 18
Second place: “Yuwen Fragrant,” Berserker, Level 18
Third place: “Dimensional Reaper,” Demon, Level 17
Fourth place: “Gank,” Divine, Level 17
Fifth place: “Crimson Butcher’s Pagoda,” Human, Level 17
Sixth place: “Your Yida,” Berserker, Level 17
Seventh place: “Autumn Wings,” Winged, Level 17
Eighth place: “May I Be Like the Stars and You Like the Moon,” Human, Level 17
Ninth place: “Crimson Crushing Begonia,” Elf, Level 17
Tenth place: “War | Ancient Wilds,” Berserker, Level 17
Not only was the tenth place player level seventeen, but another hundred followed suit, all the way down to the millionth place at level sixteen.
His rocket launcher no longer ranked in the top hundred for equipment. In just a few hours, many had acquired superior gear through various means and lucky encounters.
His combat power ranking had slipped to several hundredth place.
“Damn it, how are these people playing the game?”
Irritated, he ran his hand through his hair and opened the final leaderboard: the Bloodthirst leaderboard.
“Unmatched Radiance,” “Sinful Sisoko,” and “Night Flowing Light Shining Bright” seemed locked in fierce competition, their bloodthirst scores rising at a shocking pace.
As of now, “Night Flowing Light Shining Bright” had surpassed six thousand bloodthirst points, “Sinful Sisoko” reached four thousand, and “Unmatched Radiance” had over three thousand. All the other players combined barely broke ten thousand.
“Are these people addicted to PvP? Damn, I hope I never run into them.”
He swallowed nervously. “Night Flowing Light Shining Bright” was fine; she’d at least sent him gifts worth tens of thousands. The other two, especially “Sinful Sisoko,” were trouble. He remembered a user named “Sisoko’s Little Bitch” in his stream, who once taunted him—deserved to be PKed. If he ever encountered “Sinful Sisoko,” he’d take him down!
As for “Unmatched Radiance,” he’d been stirring up drama on the forums for ages, relishing the admiration of ordinary players. If he lost even his newbie underwear in a PK, would he go mad?
Having finished reviewing the update notes, Huang Yunshuo turned his attention to his streaming channel.
In just a short time since starting, popularity had climbed to sixty-eight thousand, and followers had increased to seventy-two thousand.
Huang Yunshuo suspected that many of these followers had never watched his stream; they had come in via homepage recommendations or other means, saw the violent black screen chat, and followed out of curiosity.
