“You can attack freely now. Damn, killing a chicken really is a hassle. Seven, Eight, you two have full health—get in there and take a round of hits!” commanded the wolf-headed team leader.

Wolf-Head Seven and Wolf-Head Eight immediately charged forward, each delivering a slap to the little chick, then raising their wooden shields defensively. Behind them, the rest of the group surged in.

-2!
-2!

The little chick, who had started with 13 life points, was instantly reduced to 9.

Peck! Peck!

Wolf-Head Seven and Wolf-Head Eight let out pained cries—the chick had pecked them for 19 and 18 damage respectively, leaving them in agony.

The wolf-headed team leader ran over eagerly, landing a punch on the chick. Two others, quick on their feet, each threw in a punch as well. In the blink of an eye, the chick was down to just 3 health.

Just then, a leg shot out from the crowd, kicking the furious chick through the air.

-4!

With a shrill cry, the little chick crashed to the ground, transformed into a corpse, leaving behind three copper coins and a tuft of down.

Swish!

Bathed in the white glow of leveling up, Huang Yunshuo excitedly scooped up the coins and the tuft of chick down, darting away like a streak of light.

“I swear, I’ll kill you for this!” The Wolf-Head Squad was about to explode with rage, immediately committing Huang Yunshuo’s name to memory and giving chase in wild pursuit.

But unfortunately for them, Huang Yunshuo was both strong and agile; after pushing through the crowd, he vanished in the blink of an eye, leaving the Wolf-Head Squad behind. They lost sight of their target so quickly they nearly coughed up blood.

“Damn it, who names themselves Moron these days? Remember this Moron—kill him every time you see him!” The wolf-headed team leader clutched his chest, nearly breathless with heartache.

Killing chickens was hard enough, and now there were people stealing kills. The whole sky seemed gray to him.

Moron, level 2
Class: Frostwind Eagle
Race: Human, Bloodthirst: 0
Constitution: 11
Strength: 18
Agility: 14
Intelligence: 4
Health: 55
Mana: 20
Attack: 4-5
Defense: 1

These were Huang Yunshuo’s new stats after leveling up.

Constitution and intelligence had each increased by one point automatically, but strength had gone up by three, and agility by two. In other words, the growth rate for strength and agility in the Frostwind Eagle class was triple and double that of a normal class. Over time, this would lead to an incredible advantage.

“Five free attribute points—I remember it used to be just three.”

Even the free points had increased by two, so altogether, Huang Yunshuo gained five more attribute points per level than the average player!

Perhaps later, others might close the gap through equipment, but at this early stage, when everyone was dirt poor, these extra points were a straight-up bug!

Fourteen agility was nearly double that of most players; he’d move faster, attack quicker, and his crit and crit resistance would both leap to new heights.

Without hesitation, Huang Yunshuo allocated all five free points to strength, raising it to twenty-three.

Based on the conversion rate of five strength to one attack, his attack was now 4-5, and with the bonus from ten agility per attack, it increased to 5-6.

If he landed a critical hit, with the high agility bonus, his maximum damage could reach nearly fifteen.

A lone chick with only ten health left was certain death for most, but thanks to his luck, he could finish it off in a single blow.

“Right, I’ve got thirty copper coins now. I should check out the general store. I’ve also collected ten tufts of chick down—no idea what they’re for, but surely they must have some use.”

He headed first to the general store to look over the goods.

“Whew, fortunately, the prices are reasonable.”

A tiny healing spray that restored twenty health cost three copper coins; the small spray that restored fifty health was ten coins—a full bar for a character with ten constitution, so quite precious.

He could buy ten tiny sprays or three small sprays, but Huang Yunshuo wasn’t in a hurry; instead, he kept browsing the equipment.

“Beginner’s Wooden Club, attack 1-2, price thirty copper coins.”

He ignored the other items like clothes and hats, which were of no use to him, and felt a pang of indecision.

Should he buy a total of 200 health worth of healing sprays, or a club that did 1-2 extra damage?

“Moron, I didn’t have any sprays before and still survived without a scratch, didn’t I? The club, without a doubt.”

Huang Yunshuo bought the Beginner’s Wooden Club. His attack immediately increased to 6-8.

“Chick Down: Aunt Li at the Tailor’s might need this.”

Noticing the hint on the chick down, Huang Yunshuo hurried to the tailor’s shop and found Aunt Li.

“Brave adventurer, you’re the first to bring me so many tufts of down, but it’s still not enough. If you collect ten more and pay me twenty copper coins, I’ll have a surprise for you!”

Twenty tufts and twenty coins—was she going to make him some equipment? Huang Yunshuo’s heart raced with excitement as he bid Aunt Li farewell and rushed back to the front lines.

Wasting no time, he focused on hunting wounded chicks.

He knew those wounded chicks were only in that state because countless players had thrown themselves at them, so snatching the kill might seem unethical.

But in reality, no one could actually whittle a chick down from full to low health; if the chick was nearly dead, it meant the players had either died, fled, or lost track of it in the flock.

If he didn’t finish off those chicks, then some other lucky scavenger would.

Eight health left!

What an opportunity!

Huang Yunshuo darted forward, club in hand, and struck.

The chick let out a miserable shriek as it was sent flying, a damage number of -7 appearing above its head.

With just a sliver of life left, Huang Yunshuo took advantage of his club’s reach to finish the job, picking up three more copper coins and another tuft of down.

“He has a weapon!”

The surrounding players all stopped, staring at Huang Yunshuo in shock, their faces flushed with excitement.

“Big brother, can you carry me? I’ve got a tiny waist, long legs, and I’m a 34D!”

“Did you see that? Seven points of damage—that’s more than triple mine! It has to be the club!”

“Don’t be stupid. That’s just the Beginner’s Wooden Club from the general store—attack 1-2. There’s no way it accounts for all that. I bet this guy named Moron has some crazy stats.”

“Who cares? Guys, don’t just stand there—get him!”

With a rallying cry, a player led a mass charge at Huang Yunshuo.

“Are you all morons? Can’t you read? No PK before level 5!”

Huang Yunshuo curled his lip.

If you could PK before level five, the newbie village would’ve turned into a bloodbath over wounded monsters, and these people wouldn’t be enjoying such peace.

Seeing they couldn’t hurt Huang Yunshuo, the crowd of players were both frustrated and indignant. But they refused to let him go, hemming him in tightly. If they couldn’t level up, then Huang Yunshuo wouldn’t have it easy either!
