Chapter Fifty-Seven: Such Perfect Coordination (Soaring, Soaring—Favorites and Recommendations Needed)
He could use a rocket launcher to blast them, but the problem was he couldn’t pinpoint their exact location—and one shot wouldn’t be enough to kill them. If he kept firing, it would just be a headache.
“Is the only option to identify them by sound?” Huang Yunshuo thought, feeling a flicker of inspiration. The difficulty was high, but if there really was no better way, he’d have to try.
Suddenly, a white light flared at the nearby respawn point.
A tall, striking woman stepped out, her brows slightly knit. Her hair poured down like a waterfall, her waist slender, her neck as pale as snow, and her legs impossibly long. In her hand, she carried a hand crossbow.
Her shoulder guard had been blown off, exposing her smooth, delicate, and alluring shoulder, making the male players around the respawn point swallow hard.
“Hey, beautiful!” Huang Yunshuo called out from the system shop, waving at Chenlu Qingshuang who was a dozen meters away.
Chenlu Qingshuang heard Huang Yunshuo’s voice, looked up in surprise, and a spark of delight flashed in her eyes. She quickly strode over, her long legs carrying her effortlessly.
Fox Xiaoruan, seeing Chenlu Qingshuang’s height—ten centimeters taller than herself—nervously swallowed and instinctively stepped back.
“Who killed you? Dropped all the way to level ten?” Huang Yunshuo asked, gritting his teeth as he bought two refined sticky nets.
“Over at Tiger Leap Gorge, level seven monster zone, Little White Goose area. Got into a conflict with some players and was blown back here,” Chenlu Qingshuang replied.
“How many people?” Huang Yunshuo asked, puzzled. Most level ten players had about twenty defense. Getting killed by monsters was normal, but being PKed by other players was unusual—those attackers must have high offense.
“Three warriors. Each had at least two class skills. I couldn’t deal with them,” Chenlu Qingshuang said.
Huang Yunshuo stroked his chin. Player class advancement was a troublesome affair. There was no quest for changing classes, but learning new skills required training and insight at the training grounds. You only acquired skills after passing the assessment.
Most players who left the novice village hadn’t learned a single skill. Anyone who had mastered two was certainly a skilled expert.
“How many skills have you learned?” Huang Yunshuo asked.
“Leap and Lightness,” Chenlu Qingshuang answered, smiling. “Both are escaping skills.”
“That’s great—you didn’t pick wrong,” Huang Yunshuo nodded. With her top-tier crossbow, Cloud Mask, and attack speed gloves, her output was explosive. As long as she could ensure survival, her PK ability was formidable.
“I’ll help you get your revenge, then we’ll go hunt sloths in the forest!”
Fox Xiaoruan lacked the strength to help and went to level up alone on the grassland. Huang Yunshuo and Chenlu Qingshuang headed towards Tiger Leap Gorge.
Chenlu Qingshuang gave a bitter smile, tinged with lingering fear. “Sloths are too tough. Why don’t we stay in Tiger Leap Gorge and farm Little White Geese?”
“Let’s see if Little White Geese are easier to deal with,” Huang Yunshuo said. Though he’d bought sticky nets, the memory of the sloth that killed him instantly made him nervous. Maybe it was better to observe for now.
The grassland where the White Rabbits spawned was south of Stone Platform Town. Beyond the grassland lay the forest where sloths appeared.
Tiger Leap Gorge was to the southeast, a wide and long canyon formed between two towering mountain ranges. Looking up, the mountains seemed to almost touch, giving the illusion that one could leap across with ease.
The lush and beautiful gorge was far from peaceful. The air was filled with incessant, chaotic goose calls, enough to make anyone want to turn back immediately.
Little White Geese roamed leisurely everywhere, but there were only three players leveling here. Two wielded carrot clubs, and one held a novice iron sword.
The three surrounded a Little White Goose. The monkey-faced player charged, sending the goose flying. The horse-faced player caught it below, charged, and knocked it back up. Now the monkey-faced player’s place was taken by a square-faced player, who finished with a charge, knocking the goose to the ground.
The three rushed forward. The horse-faced player blocked the goose’s attacks with his shield, while the other two each landed a heavy blow, instantly dispatching the goose.
“That’s some impressive teamwork!” Huang Yunshuo exclaimed. “What stats does Little White Goose have?”
“Sixty attack, ten defense, one hundred fifty health. High agility, but since they’re getting one-shot by those three, it’s hard to tell for now,” Chenlu Qingshuang replied.
Huang Yunshuo narrowed his eyes.
Charge was the first skill for warriors and knights, low cooldown and no mana cost. But the second skill, Heavy Strike, and the third, Block, both required mana.
As a physical class, only Huang Yunshuo would be extravagant enough to have thirty-seven intelligence. Most players couldn’t have such high intelligence—mana was limited.
This meant those three probably had mana recovery potions!
Damn, he really needed those himself right now.
“By the way, what would happen if I used a rocket launcher with Swimming Dragon?” Huang Yunshuo pondered. If he jumped back three meters and returned with a blast, he’d probably blow himself up half-dead. Still, worth trying later.
Chenlu Qingshuang and the imposing Huang Yunshuo marched straight toward the trio.
Upon seeing two unexpected guests, the three immediately stopped farming and formed a cautious triangle, advancing.
“Where are you three idiots from? Looking to die?” Huang Yunshuo cursed. With Chenlu Qingshuang’s long, beautiful legs, shouldn’t they be drooling over her instead of going for PK?
“Oh, she called a man over to help? Fine, the three of us will show you what cruelty means!” The square-faced man pointed at Chenlu Qingshuang, threatening.
Chenlu Qingshuang explained, “These three claimed they’d monopolized all the monsters in Tiger Leap Gorge. Killing monsters here means stealing their experience, so they PKed me.”
The monkey-faced player, whose family weaves cloth, squeaked, “Face bro, that guy’s got a bunch of white gear. Might not be easy.”
“That’s exactly why! Blow him up and we get rich!” The horse-faced player, whose family sews, said heatedly, swallowing hard. His gaze was clearly fixed on Huang Yunshuo.
“Damn, these three are twisted,” Huang Yunshuo muttered, instinctively shielding his chest. They ignored the beautiful girl and ogled his gear instead?
“Give me back my shoulder guard!” Chenlu Qingshuang demanded coldly.
Though the shoulder guard was just part of a standard harassment set, it covered her shoulder and kept her comfortable. Without it, she felt exposed and uneasy.
“You monster thief, you’re asking for it! Stealing our monsters—killing you once was already merciful. And you dare come back!” The three charged at Huang Yunshuo and Chenlu Qingshuang, closing the distance to less than ten meters in an instant.
“Shoot!” Huang Yunshuo said to Chenlu Qingshuang. “Strike first, don’t you know?”
“If we do, we’ll turn red-named,” Chenlu Qingshuang replied.
Huang Yunshuo rolled his eyes. “Every expert on the Blood Ranking is red-named. Attack already!”
Whoosh!
A crossbow bolt shot out, striking the chest of the weaving monkey-faced player.
-6!
-13!
-7!
Chenlu Qingshuang fired rapidly. Before the three could get close, the weaving player had already taken three arrows, losing twenty-six health and his speed dropped by fifteen percent, instantly falling behind his companions.
