Chapter 119 Honorary Professor of Huaqing University
The middle-aged man known as Professor Fang showed no surprise at Yun Fu’s refusal; in fact, his attitude became even more humble.
“That is why the principal and all of us have agreed that, even if you do not come to teach, we still hope to collaborate with you.”
Seeing Yun Fu’s calm, unruffled demeanor, Professor Fang exchanged a glance with the other professors, and finally, it was the principal who spoke.
Principal Luo stood up, and the other professors followed suit. Looking at the young face before them, a deep sense of hope welled up in their hearts.
“Miss Yun, on behalf of Huaqing University, I invite you to become an Honorary Professor at our institution. You will hold the title of professor at Huaqing University for life. There is no need for you to teach, but I hope your formula can belong to our nation, to Huaqing.”
In their eyes shone the same light—the dedication to safeguarding knowledge, to serving their country.
Yun Fu sat there, setting down her drink bottle. Her face was expressionless, her eyes unreadable.
After several seconds, they heard her cool voice: “Please leave, all of you.”
The professors’ expressions changed; it was clear they wished to say more, but Principal Luo stopped them.
He nodded to her. “In that case, forgive us for disturbing you.”
They had come as suddenly as they left. If not for the steaming cups of tea still on the table, Qiao An might have thought she’d imagined the whole thing.
“Xiao Fu… those people just now… what was that about?”
“I just happened to write a physics formula. It’s nothing; they meant no harm.”
Qiao An took a deep breath. Looking at the person leisurely flipping through TV channels with the remote, she wanted nothing more than to grab her by the shoulders and give her a good shake.
What did she mean, she just happened to write a physics formula? She hadn’t even finished high school, and yet a casual formula could alarm professors and the principal of Huaqing University?!
But ever since Yun Fu had left Star Entertainment, Qiao An had noticed she’d changed—a lot. She had many secrets now.
Qiao An decided it was because Yun Fu had finally become herself again, free from that scumbag.
As Yun Fu lounged on the couch, absorbed in the television, she had no idea that Qiao An had already spun a whole story in her head, even giving her a reason for it.
It was almost eight o’clock. Yun Fu glanced at the time, took a shower, and by the time she emerged, “Stunning Soar” was just about to air.
Online, there were already many discussions about both “Stunning Soar” and “Speed World.”
“One is my favorite novel adaptation, and the other stars my goddess. I’m so torn!”
“I’ve got my tablet and phone ready—I’m watching both at once!”
“I’m still rooting for my goddess. ‘Speed World’ is already trending, and I’m afraid ‘Stunning Soar’ will flop this time. With the lead actress in trouble, only Fu Shiqian’s fans are left to hold the fort. How can they compete?”
“That’s true. Even though I’m a fan of the original, I prefer Xi Rou’er. My boyfriend even said he’ll watch ‘Speed World’ with me.”
“But one is a period drama and the other is sci-fi adventure. There’s no real comparison.”
“Of course there’s no comparison. The production cost of a single episode is enough to make an entire show. Don’t even mention the special effects. Domestic dramas can’t compete with foreign ones at all!”
Ten minutes before airing, both shows trended simultaneously.
But one topic was “Xi Rou’er’s Stunning Debut,” while the other was “Fans of the Original ‘Stunning Soar’ Bitterly Disappointed.”
Both topics shot into the top five.
“This is outrageous! Buying negative trends about us at a time like this—aren’t they just afraid of losing audience share?” Qiao An was fuming, unable to sit still, while the person next to her had already switched positions, now lying on the sofa, munching on chips.
Truly, it was like the saying: “The emperor is not anxious, but the eunuchs are.”
“By the way, Xiao Fu, did you post on Weibo?”
“What Weibo?”
“‘Stunning Soar’ is about to air!” Qiao An’s expression was aghast, her face all but spelling out, “If you really haven’t posted, I might just jump out the window.”
Yun Fu slowly picked up her phone, glanced at it, and tapped a few times.
Qiao An frowned and checked her own phone—only to see that Yun Fu had posted just a minute ago.
She was speechless. The show was about to air, and Yun Fu had only posted ten minutes before, with all her other promotional posts made by Qiao An herself.
Qiao An took several deep breaths, afraid she might pass out from anger. “From now on, I’ll manage your Weibo for you.”
“Fine by me,” Yun Fu replied, more than willing.
After Yun Fu’s post went up, it was quickly shared by others.
Mu Bai: “Support! Looks great!”
Ouyang Ting: “I really want to see just how good you look!”
He Fang: “Go, Xiao Fu! My little bench is ready.”
Even Gu Haoyuan, who rarely posted, shared it: “Good luck.”
These were all guests from the travel reality show. Aside from Xi Rou’er, everyone else shared Yun Fu’s post—but none of them shared Xi Rou’er’s.
This felt a little off.
“Why didn’t they share Xi Rou’er’s post? Weren’t they all guests on the same show?”
“Yeah, what’s their deal? Are they excluding our Rou’er?”
“What’s with these people? Even Teacher He and Best Actor Gu are acting this way?”
Fans of the people who shared Yun Fu’s post weren’t having any of it.
“Why do you care what Haoyuan wants to do? My idol can share whatever and whoever he wants. Do you live by the sea? Do you mind everyone’s business?”
“Exactly! Some fans really think the whole world revolves around their idol. So annoying!”
“I’m just going to watch ‘Stunning Soar’—what’s it to you?”
Xi Rou’er saw this, too. Jaw clenched, seething with anger and frustration, she nevertheless retweeted Yun Fu’s post.
Xi Rou’er: “Good luck, Xiao Fu. I’m rooting for you.”
And so, the rumors of her being excluded were quashed.
But after a while, Xi Rou’er noticed that, apart from those few, even official accounts completely unrelated to the entertainment industry—Lian’s Group, Fang Yue Law Firm, SC Technology—were all sharing Yun Fu’s post.
This piqued the interest of many who didn’t even follow TV dramas or celebrity news.
Xi Rou’er’s expression changed drastically.
With a loud “Bang!” she slammed her phone on the table, her chest heaving, features contorted by fury.
Yun Fu again! It was always her! This Yun Fu was truly a stumbling block. No matter what, this time she had to crush her completely!
“Go buy trending topics. ‘Speed World’ must utterly dominate ‘Stunning Soar’!” she instructed her agent.
At the same time, it was eight o’clock—the shows began airing simultaneously.
One on the popular Red Fruit Satellite TV, the other on the little-known Huafang Satellite TV.
The entire “Stunning Soar” crew was tense—this premiere was critical. If the ratings were disastrous, everything would be over.
