Chapter 98: Our Money Is Gone
It seemed that Yunfu was truly familiar with this place. In about five minutes, they had already reached a large supermarket.
The two of them still did not speak. Most of the time, it was Xi Rouer choosing the items while Yunfu pushed the cart forward, her gaze fixed straight ahead.
“That should be enough. Let’s go pay.”
They headed for the checkout.
For some reason, the cameraman also let out a quiet breath of relief. At last the two of them were going back; the atmosphere had been far too strange.
Yunfu is putting on airs, isn’t she? It’s always Xi Rouer doing the talking, and she just acts so superior. Who is she trying to show off for?
Right. You’d think someone owed her money or something, acting so cold and aloof.
Isn’t Xi Rouer more famous than she is? Doesn’t she have a higher status? So rude!
Are you insane? Since when does anyone have to curry favor with Xi Rouer? Is she some kind of empress?
Exactly. Some people’s fans are way too full of themselves.
The two sides’ fans instantly grew heated, and the bystanders watching the drama found it extremely entertaining.
After waiting in line for a while, it was finally their turn to pay. The cashier scanned their items one by one.
Yunfu took the envelope from her pocket, a trace of cold mockery curving her lips. She glanced at it, then stuffed it back in again.
What does that mean? Is she not paying?
What kind of confusing behavior is this?
What’s going on? I suddenly don’t understand.
Just as everyone was puzzled, Yunfu took out something that looked like a lighter from her pocket and handed it to the cashier, saying a few words.
The cashier’s expression changed at once. Her attitude became instantly respectful. She returned the lighter with both hands, then handed over the things they had bought.
Xi Rouer’s face changed. “Yunfu... why aren’t you paying?”
But Yunfu did not even spare her a glance. She picked up the bag and, as they brushed past each other, only then did she say, “Then you should ask yourself.”
Handing her an empty envelope and telling her to pay, hm.
Xi Rouer’s hand trembled. She frowned sharply. Yunfu knows?
But she quickly denied it.
Impossible. I did it so discreetly, and I even had the system helping me. Yunfu couldn’t possibly have discovered it, and even if she had, she still wouldn’t know I was the one who tampered with it.
It was she who lost the money. She would just explain herself later.
Everyone else looked completely baffled.
But in the next moment, they saw Xi Rouer hurry up beside Yunfu, wearing the look of a considerate older sister. “Yunfu, did you lose the money?”
“It’s okay. Let’s tell the director. Buying on credit like this isn’t very appropriate.”
Could it be that the money was really lost? I never even saw Yunfu take it out. How did it disappear?
But what was that thing Yunfu took out just now during checkout? Why didn’t the cashier even take the money?
It must be some symbol of status. Didn’t Yunfu’s friends seem pretty impressive?
Seeing that Yunfu did not respond, Xi Rouer felt delighted.
Yunfu was scared. Keep pretending; she wanted to see how long she could keep it up.
When the time came, everyone would blame her, and the audience would hate her too.
When they returned to where they were staying, the three men saw them and hurried over.
“Why didn’t you let me help carry them? Look, your hands are all red.” Mu Bai ran up cheerfully and took the full shopping bag from Yunfu’s hands at once.
Then he looked at Xi Rouer, who was carrying nothing beside her, and could not help frowning.
Seeing that Yunfu still looked as though nothing had happened, Xi Rouer could not help sneering inwardly.
She put on an extremely apologetic expression, lowered her head, and when she raised it again, her eyes were already red.
“Teacher He...”
He Fang was startled. Thinking the two had fought, he quickly looked at Yunfu. Seeing that she seemed fine, he finally relaxed.
“What’s wrong?”
“Teacher He, Hao Yuan, Mu Bai, and Zhenzhen, I’m sorry... we lost the money.”
After speaking, she lowered her head in deep apology, looking utterly mortified.
He Fang froze for a moment, then looked at Yunfu again.
Yunfu had already sat down on the sofa, one foot propped on that unusually distinctive table, looking every inch the big shot.
“Well... it’s fine. If it’s lost, it’s lost. We’ll think of another way.”
What? Wasn’t it Yunfu who lost it? What does she mean, acting as though it has nothing to do with her?
Why is Xi Rouer the one apologizing while Yunfu sits there like some boss? That’s so rude.
I get angry every time I see Yunfu like that. Sitting all wrong, acting so cocky.
What did our goddess do wrong? They never should have handed the money to her in the first place.
Xi Rouer bit her lip, eyes red, and glanced toward Yunfu. “When we were buying things just now, we even had to buy on credit. It’s all my fault. If I had held onto it properly, it wouldn’t have been lost.”
“What do you mean? Sister Rouer, did you give the money to Yunfu, and then it got lost?”
Tong Zhenzhen exclaimed in surprise, then glared at Yunfu. “Since it was Sister Yunfu who lost it, shouldn’t you be the one apologizing? Why are you making Sister Rouer apologize!”
Xi Rouer tugged at her. “It’s okay, Zhenzhen. I just didn’t hold it properly.”
“What do you mean? Sister Rouer, what fault do you have? The money was lost by Sister Yunfu, so shouldn’t Sister Yunfu be the one to deal with it? We’ve only just arrived—how are we supposed to live for the next few days?”
Exactly! Why make Rouer apologize? Yunfu should be the one apologizing. That was everyone’s budget for several days.
Is Yunfu sick? Why does she still look like that? Just looking at her makes me furious.
Only I think Yunfu is really cool? It probably wasn’t her who lost it. I think she’s someone very responsible.
That sentence was drowned out beneath Xi Rouer’s fans.
As for Yunfu, she really did look exceptionally cool—leaning back on the sofa, having somehow taken out the remote control and turned on the television, her expression lazy and unhurried.
Hearing Tong Zhenzhen say that, the others, except Xi Rouer, could not help frowning.
“The money was handed to you in the first place. This can’t all be blamed on Yunfu,” Mu Bai said, looking at Xi Rouer with a rather bad tone.
Gu Haoyuan tugged at him. “What Mu Bai means is that since it’s already lost, blaming someone now won’t help. We should still think of a way to solve it.”
“Right. Yunfu also brought back so many vegetables. Stop dwelling on this. Since it’s already happened, let’s figure out how to handle it.”
Seeing the three of them standing together on Yunfu’s side, Xi Rouer’s expression changed.
But since even He Fang had said as much, if she kept insisting, she would just seem unreasonable.
She could only smile and agree. “Teacher He, you’re all so kind. Then let’s think of a way to solve it.”
Who knew how angry she was right now.
She could not help glancing at the system screen. Gu Haoyuan’s affection score was still zero.
The other three were already mostly filled.
She had returned to the country for two reasons: first, to fill Kone Yiwei’s affection score; second, to win over Gu Haoyuan.
She had heard that he was taking part in this variety show, so she, who had never appeared on one before, had joined as well.
But now it was already the second episode, and there was still no progress at all.
