Chapter 150: What Exactly Is Your Identity?
"Is my memory failing me? Since when does convicting a person fall to two middle-aged women in a police station rather than a judge?"
Her voice was not loud, but it struck everyone present like a series of sharp slaps across the face. Director Li, in particular, looked as though he had been led around by the nose by those two women the entire time.
The two women, however, feeling insulted by Yun Fu, began to squabble again. "I see you refuse to cry until you see the coffin, don't you? As it happens, I've already contacted lawyers, so I'll make sure you die with peace of mind!"
Just then, the door was pushed open. Two men in suits entered, and upon seeing the two women, they immediately adopted a look of profound respect.
"Lawyer Dai, Lawyer Hong, this is the woman who beat my son. You must seek justice for him!"
The two men nodded in unison. "Rest assured, Mrs. Xi, Mrs. You. If she dared to commit assault, she must be prepared to face the consequences!"
They cast a glance at Yun Fu, who was standing to the side, their eyes brimming with unconcealed contempt. One of them curled his lip, a trace of malice hidden in his gaze. "Miss Yun Fu, this is the victim's medical report. The hospital has classified the injuries as severe. Intentional infliction of severe injury carries a minimum sentence of ten years!"
Yun Fu looked up at him, her eyes filled with impatience. "Intentional injury? Ha, why don't you mention that they were the ones who attempted to intentionally injure me, and that I was merely acting in self-defense?"
"Self-defense?! Defending yourself to the point of causing severe injury? Miss Yun Fu, perhaps I should introduce myself. I am an attorney from the Junling Law Firm. Are you trying to lecture me on the law?"
Yun Fu's gaze grew colder. She had no patience left to play their games. Since they had the nerve to provoke her, they surely must have been prepared to bear the consequences. She stepped forward, an imposing, overwhelming aura radiating from her.
"No statement taken, no inquiry into the cause or sequence of events. First, people were sent to drag me here, then the Director appeared, and now, lawyers."
She walked back to her chair, sat down, crossed her legs, and rested her hands on the table, tapping her fingers lightly. "What? Are you trying to coerce a confession?"
Her delicate features were etched with a mix of sarcasm, arrogance, and coldness. "I will say this one more time: I acted in self-defense." Meeting the gaze of the lawyers who were about to speak, her eyes turned sharp. "If you don't think that's enough, I believe they are suspected of attempted murder..."
She looked up, sweeping her gaze over the group—some confused, some shocked, some fearful—and a roguish smirk tugged at the corner of her mouth: "However, they didn't succeed."
The two lawyers and the Director were stunned. They understood the law, and they knew clearly that if Yun Fu insisted they had attempted murder, the nature of the case would change entirely. A brawl is vastly different from an attempted homicide. And as for Yun Fu, if she were acting in self-defense, even if she had killed them, she would not be held liable. Because that would be self-defense against murder!
How could she!
Yun Fu curled her lips, watching their varied expressions; it was truly amusing. Trying to lecture her on the law? Ha, they were still too green.
Only the two ignorant women, shrill and headache-inducing, began to clamor again, "Rubbish! What murder! How could my son possibly commit murder!"
Yun Fu looked up. Not wanting to waste any more time on them, she took out her phone, sent a message to Fang Zeming, then stretched her legs out and leaned back in her chair, closing her eyes to rest.
Just as one of the women was about to speak again, the door was flung open with great force. Several figures burst inside.
Seeing who had arrived, Director Li’s expression shifted. "Young Master Mu, Young Master Lan, Young Master Tang, why are you..."
The group ignored him entirely, marching straight past him. When they saw Yun Fu sitting there, safe and sound, they all let out a collective sigh of relief.
Yun Fu opened her eyes. Mu Bai’s eyes turned red when he saw her. "Xiao Fu, are you alright? Did they do anything to you?"
Yun Fu shook her head, looking slightly bewildered.
Lan Yuzheng stepped forward to explain. "It’s all over the internet—people are saying you were arrested for intentional assault, so we rushed over. Don't worry, we’ve all contacted lawyers; they’ll be here soon."
Yun Fu nodded lazily and patted the chair beside her, gesturing for them to sit.
The group looked confused. *Big sister, what is going on? How are you so calm?*
As if under a spell, they sat down, only to hear Yun Fu continue calmly, "Don't worry. I wasn't arrested for intentional assault. Rather, they are suspected of attempted murder, and I am merely being investigated for acting in self-defense."
The three of them: "..." That was not quite what they had heard.
Beside them, Director Li, the two women, and the two lawyers had undergone a total transformation in demeanor. The young heir of the Mu family, the only son of the Lan family, and the young master of the Tang family—these three came from families several rungs above the Xi and You families. Moreover, they were the children of high-ranking officials; they were absolutely untouchable.
How did Yun Fu know them all?
Mrs. You’s heart began to race uncontrollably, though she remained calmer than the deathly pale Mrs. Xi. She forced a stiff, insincere smile and stepped forward. "Young Master Mu, Young Master Lan, Young Master Tang, it has been a long time. I hope your elders are doing well."
Mu Bai shot them a cold glare and scoffed. "They’re doing just fine. They happen to be free lately, and since such a major incident has occurred, they might be quite interested in stepping in to manage it."
Director Li stumbled, nearly falling over. If the Mu family intervened, it was over. And no matter how one looked at it, Yun Fu was in the right. He looked at Yun Fu with genuine dread. Who exactly was this woman? How could she know such formidable young men, and have them come here to clear her name?
"Director Li, shouldn't you investigate this matter thoroughly? And give us an explanation?"
Lan Yuzheng’s words sent Director Li into a complete panic. Did this mean they were going to intervene? He glanced at the two women behind him; they looked indifferent. Though he didn't know if they were panicked, he knew they were planning to abandon him.
Director Li gritted his teeth, his tone turning ruthless. "Rest assured, young masters, I will handle this impartially and conduct a thorough investigation!" He could take a gamble; after all, these three were just kids, and it was uncertain if they could actually hold sway over their families. Since he couldn't please both sides, he had to cling to one.
Just then, the police station door was pushed open once more. A group of people looked over in unison, and this time, they could no longer remain calm.
