Chapter One Hundred and Ten: The Yanhuang Enforcement Squad
What a trap! Chen Feng finally realized that he might never have been meant to extract the skill of the Dark Sorrow Hand. Among the abilities he drew from Stephen Zhou, the most useful was the Sixteen Heavenly Recipes of the Palace, followed closely by lightness skill. As for the Dark Sorrow Hand, Chen Feng simply couldn’t use it yet.
It required inner strength—ample and robust inner power—to unleash this move. Likewise, the lightness skill also consumed significant inner strength; it was this energy that allowed him to perform the lightness skill. But with only fifteen years’ worth of inner power extracted from Anran, he could barely sustain his lightness skill for three minutes.
When he first tried to use the Dark Sorrow Hand, he was horrified to find his inner strength completely drained. In that instant, Chen Feng felt something very strange: if he continued to use that move, it would not only draw from his vital energy, but might even reduce his lifespan.
“The Dark Sorrow Hand is unusable for now. Looks like I need intermediate or advanced inner power to wield it,” Chen Feng muttered to himself, feeling helpless and frustrated. Clearly, extracting the Dark Sorrow Hand had been a mistake.
With a quiet sigh, Chen Feng didn’t dwell too much on it. After all, once he completed the Jiangzhou Food King event, he would earn a hefty sum of achievement points.
“I guess I really need to find some true martial artists and extract their inner power!” Chen Feng mused aloud. “But who else can I find?”
Just then, his phone rang again. Taking it out, Chen Feng was momentarily surprised to see it was Lu Rui calling.
Over the past few days, Chen Feng’s contact with Lu Rui had lessened compared to before. He knew why: after he injected Poseidon’s serum and killed those people, Lu Rui had taken a dim view of him, seeming to distance himself.
“Uncle Lu!” Chen Feng answered politely.
“Chen Feng, where are you now?” Lu Rui asked directly.
“At home,” Chen Feng replied with a smile. “Uncle Lu, is there something you need?”
Lu Rui nodded. “Come to me immediately. Someone wants to see you.”
“Someone wants to see me?” Chen Feng asked, puzzled. “Who is it?”
Lu Rui didn’t hide anything. “Do you remember the people you killed from the Black Skull Mercenaries?”
“I remember. But Uncle Lu, didn’t you suppress that incident already?” Chen Feng muttered inwardly. “Do you think I could forget something like that?”
Lu Rui chuckled. “Chen Feng, do you really think I could cover it up?”
“How could it not be covered up?” Chen Feng was surprised. “All those people are dead. How could it not be suppressed? Uncle Lu, are you saying…”
Lu Rui shook his head. “The Black Skull Mercenaries killed people in broad daylight. Many witnesses saw and heard the gunfire. I can identify them, but there are others who can too. If this were an ordinary case, I could have suppressed it. But you have to understand, the Black Skull Mercenaries are a foreign force. Once they set foot in our country, I absolutely cannot suppress it!”
Chen Feng suddenly understood. From the very beginning, the fate of the Luo family was sealed. Even if he hadn’t eliminated them, domestic agencies wouldn’t have spared them.
The reality was that the domestic situation was loose outside but tight within. It might seem easy to infiltrate, but once something happens inside, the response is swift. Foolish Luo Wenqiang thought he could threaten Lu Rui with his men, but little did he know he was pushing his family into a pit of fire.
Lu Rui refused to compromise. He wanted to eliminate this threat—and compromise was impossible, lest he be implicated.
“So who exactly is this person?” Chen Feng suddenly asked, already preparing to flee in case this was a trap.
Lu Rui hesitated briefly, then said slowly, “Forget it. Chen Feng, I know you have some secrets. In fact, I’ve investigated you. There are things you don’t understand. Now, I can tell you some truths. Are you aware there’s a mysterious organization in our country?”
“A mysterious organization?” Chen Feng asked curiously. “The Security Bureau 9?”
Lu Rui smiled. “Not that. This is an organization that cooperates with the government but operates independently. It’s called the Yanhuang Enforcement Team.”
“Yanhuang Enforcement Team?” The strange name made Chen Feng pause, then ask in surprise, “What does that mean?”
Lu Rui continued, “The Yanhuang Enforcement Team is a force specializing in dealing with martial artists. They hold significant power domestically. Whenever a martial artist recklessly harms people or property, the Yanhuang Enforcement Team dispatches their members to handle the situation. They maintain stability within the martial world. You must understand, there are many martial artists in this world. They also target foreign forces like mercenaries. Beyond that, they wield immense authority, with most domestic departments cooperating with their operations.”
Four words flashed through Chen Feng’s mind: The Court’s Hounds.
Lu Rui paused slightly before continuing, “The Yanhuang Enforcement Team has about 140 members, each extremely powerful. After the Black Skull Mercenaries incident was discovered, I contacted a friend of mine in the Yanhuang Enforcement Association. He suppressed the matter for you. So far, your identity has not been exposed. You can rest assured.”
Chen Feng exhaled softly, then asked cautiously, “Uncle Lu, would the Yanhuang Enforcement Team ask me to join them?”
“You’re overthinking,” Lu Rui said bluntly, shaking his head. “Do you think you’re qualified?”
“Huh?”
Chen Feng was momentarily stunned. Lu Rui explained, “The selection process for the Yanhuang Enforcement Team is extremely strict. Every member must reach a certain level of strength. You’re far from that now.”
“How strong exactly are the Yanhuang Enforcement Team members?” Chen Feng asked with curiosity.
“Let me put it this way,” Lu Rui replied with a metaphor. “The Black Skull Mercenaries you fought numbered ten times more than usual. Any random member of the Yanhuang Enforcement Team could, within three minutes and without taking any damage, wipe them all out.”
Chen Feng gasped. Having fought the Black Skull Mercenaries himself, he knew their strength well. Although he had slaughtered them with relative ease, he understood that facing ten times their number would cost him dearly—perhaps even his life.
Guns and martial arts let him dodge bullets with ease, but if bullets came thick and fast, leaving no room to escape, survival would be impossible. Over four hundred men was practically a small army. Without his vibranium sound-absorbing shield, he doubted he could withstand their assault.
One person wiping out more than four hundred foes in three minutes—that was truly terrifying.
Chen Feng thought even someone at Captain America’s level wouldn’t dare claim to handle over three hundred mercenaries alone in three minutes. To be precise, it was impossible. His own strength, enhanced by Preston’s gun-fu, made him formidable, but even he couldn’t do it. Were the Yanhuang Enforcement Team members truly stronger than Captain America?
“The Yanhuang Enforcement Team has 124 members,” Lu Rui went on. “Their selection is extremely strict. Now, come over immediately! I have a friend who is a member of the Yanhuang Enforcement Team, also responsible for the Yangtze River Delta, West Hangzhou, and Jiangzhou areas. He’s a captain-level figure and has some questions for you.”
Chen Feng was silent for a moment, secretly calculating. If he could extract the inner power of a Yanhuang Enforcement Team member, perhaps he could break through his inner strength bottleneck. If so, it might be worth meeting them.
Then he frowned slightly, wondering if this was a trap meant to capture him.
Quickly, he shook off the thought. “That’s impossible. If the Yanhuang Enforcement Team is as powerful as Lu Rui says, there’s no need for such tricks—they would just arrest me outright.”
With that in mind, Chen Feng nodded quickly. “Alright. I’m coming right away!”
(Sorry, today was particularly busy and my head is spinning. I’ll update twice today and make up the third update tomorrow. I’m too exhausted to continue now and worry the quality would suffer. Apologies, please understand!) (To be continued...)
