Chapter 136: Who Authorized You to Hold the Board Meeting?
Hiss!
Even after settling into the Maserati that Xiao Yu usually drove, Chen Feng was still savoring the exquisite sensation that Xiao Yu had bestowed upon him. He had to admit, Xiao Yu was truly a rare beauty, especially...
This mutual understanding was not about revealing every secret to one another, but rather about clearly sensing what the other felt—what Xiao Yu felt for Chen Feng, and what Chen Feng felt for Xiao Yu. This feeling would continue to affect them both.
The price paid last night left Chen Feng feeling utterly helpless. Eighty percent of the internal energy in his dantian had been drained. In other words, Chen Feng had spent over ten thousand achievement points and lost eight thousand of them. Yet, he deemed this loss necessary, for he knew he had truly conquered Xiao Yu, even though he still retained his youthful body.
“Sister Qi!” Chen Feng stretched his limbs and smiled as he addressed Qi Sisi, the beautiful secretary beside Xiao Yu. “Sister Xiao, I’ll need your help with today’s matters!”
“Mm!” Qi Sisi nodded slightly and continued, “Mr. Chen, rest assured, Director Xiao has already made all the arrangements!”
Chen Feng merely smiled faintly and said, “Then let’s head straight to Qingxue Group.”
Upon arriving at Qingxue Group, Chen Feng realized there was really no need for him to intervene much. All the plans had already been laid out; all that remained was to execute Xiao Yu’s strategy step by step. He didn’t need to do much. At every moment, someone was assigned to report to him, and Qi Sisi did her best to translate the information into terms Chen Feng could understand.
However, it wasn’t long before Qi Sisi noticed something unusual about Chen Feng. It wasn’t that he lacked understanding—on the contrary, he understood everything. He could spot subtle loopholes that even they hadn’t noticed at first glance. For a moment, Chen Feng earned the astonished respect of many.
“Director Xiao entrusted Chen Feng to take over for her. This Chen Feng really isn’t simple!” Qi Sisi glanced at Chen Feng, who was quietly sipping tea, and was secretly shocked.
What Qi Sisi didn’t realize was that Xiao Yu had only assigned Chen Feng to take charge as a backbone of the operation. All the plans had already been set in motion. She simply hoped Chen Feng could coordinate everyone and, when the time came, deal directly with Liu Shihui.
In three to five days, the outcome would be decided.
But neither Xiao Yu nor Qi Sisi could have foreseen that Chen Feng was indeed different from others. With his Grand Extraction System, even without prior knowledge, he could extract and acquire their expertise by spending a few achievement points.
Though he had nearly exhausted his achievement points last night, Chen Feng’s points were now steadily increasing. Accompanied by his rising fame, as long as people continued to talk about him and marvel at his abilities, his achievement points would keep growing.
Taking a sip of fragrant tea, Chen Feng narrowed his eyes and glanced over everyone in the office, a faint smile curling at the corners of his lips.
He was a proud man and naturally would not allow others to underestimate him.
***********
Liu Corporation
Liu Shihui sat in his CEO office, utterly despondent. He hadn’t slept a wink all night. Bloodshot eyes reflected the persistent fear deep within him. Xiao Yu was not dead. Instead, two of Wang Yang’s men had been sent straight to the crematorium. All of this proved that Xiao Yu was far from ordinary.
Xiao Yu was terrifying—truly terrifying.
At this moment, Liu Shihui felt as if venomous snakes coiled around his entire body, ready to strike his throat at the right moment and inject fatal poison.
Yet, he didn’t want to die—not now. Still, he could feel the Grim Reaper’s footsteps drawing ever closer. This feeling of impending doom nearly shattered his mind.
Suddenly, his phone rang.
Liu Shihui jolted and hurriedly answered. The call was from across the Pacific—Charles.
“Mr. Charles?” Liu Shihui’s voice trembled, as if clutching at a final lifeline.
On the other end, Charles spoke calmly, “Mr. Liu, we have decided to conduct a final evaluation of Liu Corporation to determine whether to approve your loan. Our staff from the East Sea branch has applied to enter Liu Corporation’s premises. May I ask your thoughts? If we can confirm and complete a proper assessment, the loan will be transferred to your account within seven days.”
“No problem at all!” Liu Shihui replied quickly. “Mr. Charles, I would be very willing to have your team assess Liu Corporation. But I hope you can expedite the loan. Your Thorn Investment Group holds ten percent of our shares—you surely don’t want the stock price to collapse and your investment to become worthless, do you?”
“Of course,” Charles smiled. “I will notify our East Sea branch to proceed with the evaluation and audit. We hope for your full cooperation.”
“Naturally, naturally!” Liu Shihui hurriedly assured. “We will cooperate fully, absolutely fully!”
On the other end, a cold smile curled on Charles’s lips before he abruptly ended the call.
Liu Shihui exhaled slightly, forcing himself to calm down. As long as Thorn Group lent him money, he could hold on. Besides, Xiao Yu was a martial artist, and according to the Yellow Flame Law Enforcement Team’s rules, martial artists were not allowed to harm ordinary people recklessly.
“That Xiao Yu won’t dare attack me easily. As long as I can hold steady, there’s still hope!”
Liu Shihui comforted himself, though it was self-deception. He knew deep down it was wishful thinking, yet he clung to the faint hope that if he could weather this storm, everything would get better.
Time passed swiftly—three days.
The investigation into Liu Corporation outside continued. Employees under Liu Shihui were continuously taken for questioning, and the company seemed to be falling apart. Yet, Liu Shihui knew the video evidence revealed nothing incriminating about him personally. Liu Kaifeng had taken full responsibility for all the guilt.
Liu Kaifeng was also deceiving himself. As long as Liu Shihui survived, there was a chance he could be saved.
But Liu Kaifeng wouldn’t survive. The incident had blown up too big, and someone had to be the scapegoat. Liu Kaifeng was the perfect pawn—and even in Liu Shihui’s eyes, he was disposable.
Though his own son, with such a major scandal, Liu Shihui knew he could not protect Kaifeng.
During these three days, Thorn Investment had thoroughly studied Liu Corporation. Beyond Liu’s Baihua Supermarket and other assets, they had full knowledge of investment directions and even many trade secrets. Liu Corporation laid everything bare before Thorn Group.
Liu Shihui was truly desperate, grasping at straws.
After three days, Thorn Investment informed Liu Shihui they would draft a new investment plan. If all went well, the loan would be approved in three days.
Relieved, Liu Shihui exhaled. Though his stock price had plummeted, it still barely held above his threshold. As long as it didn’t collapse completely, he still had a sliver of hope.
The fourth day.
Liu Shihui still hadn’t slept well. Without the funds in his account, he could never rest easy. Upon waking that morning, his eyes were bloodshot.
At that moment, the door to his office was suddenly pushed open. Tang Kaiwen rushed in, flustered and stammering, “Mr. Liu, bad news... they—they want to hold a shareholders’ meeting!”
“What?” Liu Shihui snapped to his feet, voice booming. “What’s going on? Who called the meeting?”
Tang Kaiwen swallowed nervously and said rapidly, “All the shareholders have arrived. They say it’s time for the meeting, and they’re asking you to come immediately!”
Liu Shihui massaged his face, his gaze sharpening. “A shareholders’ meeting? What do they mean by this?”
“Mr. Liu,” Tang Kaiwen replied bitterly, “I’m not sure, but everyone’s here. Maybe you should go see for yourself?”
Liu Shihui took a deep breath, stood up, and strode toward the conference room.
Pushing open the door, his fierce gaze swept over every face. “Tell me—who authorized this meeting?”
