Chapter Ninety-Two: Whoever You Are, You Are Dead for Certain!
The attack came like lightning. The man’s hand was unbelievably fast, his dagger slicing straight for the throat in a move so simple and so vicious it seemed honed by endless practice, a single stroke meant to end a life.
But Chen Feng had long since been prepared. The instant the blade slashed toward his throat, he slipped back half a step. The razor edge hissed past his neck, and a chill brushed the skin there. Though he had avoided the steel’s full bite, he still felt a cold sting at his throat.
What terrifying killing intent.
For a heartbeat, Chen Feng had the strange illusion that a real blade had just passed across his neck.
The moment Chen Feng retreated, the man surged forward again, driving the dagger straight toward Chen Feng’s heart. One miss, and he followed immediately with another killing sequence. He was clearly experienced; once he struck, he meant to finish the job on the spot.
He was blindingly fast. A slight delay, and that blade would have pierced the heart.
What a ruthless bastard.
Chen Feng’s mind turned, but his body responded even faster. Before the dagger could reach him, his right hand flashed out and caught the man’s wrist. The instant his fingers tightened, a dreadful force erupted from Chen Feng’s hand. A sharp crack rang out, and the man’s wrist was crushed on the spot.
The big man grimaced in agony. His right hand slackened, but his left snatched up the falling dagger and slashed straight for Chen Feng’s abdomen, heedless of the pain wracking his body. He was determined to rip Chen Feng open.
Life for life, never mind his own wounds. Chen Feng had never before seen anyone so savage, so vicious.
Chen Feng hastily retreated another step. Before the man could lunge at him, he seized the man’s right arm and flung it with brutal force. With a whoosh, the burly body was hurled clear through the third-floor glass, smashing it to pieces, and crashed hard onto the street below.
“Chen Feng, what are you doing?” Chen Feng’s father, Chen Ze, cried out in alarm. It all looked slow from where he stood, but in truth it had happened in the blink of an eye, only two or three seconds from start to finish. Chen Ze had not even seen how perilous it had been.
“Dad, run!” Chen Feng roared. He shot forward and reached another of the men, his right leg swinging up and down like a great cleaver in a savage sideways sweep.
Boom!
As Chen Feng’s cry faded, his leg had already slammed down. In a rush, the man could only cross his arms before his chest to block. Then came a terrifying surge of force crashing into his body.
Crack!
Bones shattered. The bones in both his arms were kicked to pieces, yet the force did not stop there. It continued to ravage him, and Chen Feng’s kick sent him flying. Still in midair, he began coughing up mouthfuls of blood, even fragments of internal organs.
Just how terrifying was Chen Feng’s strength? Captain America had merely injected super-soldier serum, and his output had already reached well over half a ton. Chen Feng’s strength now was even greater than Captain America’s by a margin. Once that dreadful power erupted, this man had no chance of resisting.
Boom!
The man’s body smashed viciously into the wall. In an instant, spiderweb cracks spread across the surface, and a series of cracking sounds burst from his bones. No one could tell how many had broken outright.
“Kill them!” The remaining four men saw the situation turn grim. One of them suddenly drew a pistol, the muzzle snapping toward Chen Feng, while the other three also produced their guns and aimed at Chen Ze and the two other staff members.
Their mission had been to kidnap Chen Feng’s parents and use them to threaten him. They had never imagined Chen Feng himself would be here, and never imagined his strength would be this monstrous. At this point, they no longer cared about the kidnapping mission.
These were hired killers who had taken countless lives; they would not hesitate over anyone else’s.
“This is bad!” Chen Feng’s heart jolted. The instant the muzzles turned toward him, he sprang aside at once and threw himself over his father. A shot rang out, and a bullet grazed his clothing before slamming into the wall.
At the same time Chen Feng knocked his father down, another bullet whistled through the spot where Chen Ze had just been standing. Had they been a fraction slower, it would have claimed two lives at once.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Four shots rang out together. Chen Feng had managed to shield his father from two bullets, but the two staff members on the upper floor were not so lucky. In an instant, two living souls were taken.
Damn it.
Seeing the remaining muzzles swing toward him at once, Chen Feng forcefully shoved his father toward the stairwell with both hands. “Dad, get downstairs now! Take Mom and leave immediately. Go!”
Only then did Chen Ze come to himself. Fortunately, when Chen Feng woke that morning, he had also bestowed fifteen years of cultivation upon his parents, and right now their minds were far sharper than usual. Chen Ze did not hesitate; he ran swiftly for the stairs.
Bang! Bang!
Two more bullets tore toward Chen Feng. He rolled on the floor and narrowly avoided them. At the same time, the other two gunmen also aimed at him. Chen Feng narrowed his eyes. The moment those muzzles settled on him, his hands shook, and suddenly he held two pistols.
Beretta 92FS.
Bang! Bang!
Before the two gunmen could fire, Chen Feng had already shot first. In an instant, two bullets struck their faces dead on. Both heads burst apart on the spot, brains spraying everywhere, red and white splattering across the floor.
The last two mercenaries were stunned. They had only just brought their guns to bear on Chen Feng when he crossed his arms and fired twice. Two bullets screamed out: one pierced a mercenary’s heart, and the other slammed into the right hand gripping the gun.
Clang.
The pistol dropped to the floor. Seeing this, the last mercenary hurriedly reached out with his left hand to snatch it up, but just as his fingers touched the weapon, searing pain shot through his arm. Chen Feng had already fired again and shattered it.
“Not good!”
The final mercenary could tell this man’s marksmanship was terrifying, his instinct for the gun astonishingly keen. He seemed even to sense the world around him with a peculiar awareness. From the moment he drew his weapon to the moment he killed his enemies, he had not even needed to aim carefully with his eyes; he had merely lifted his hand and fired.
He had barely raised his head when he suddenly felt something cold pressed into his mouth, sharp and metallic, thick with the bitter scent of gunpowder.
“Who sent you?”
Chen Feng looked down at him from above, his voice cold as ice.
At the sight of Chen Feng, the mercenary’s eyes filled with deep fear. The youth before him, who looked scarcely older than a boy, was wrapped in a murderous aura utterly at odds with his age.
The cold metal in his mouth made him sweat profusely. Chen Feng drew the muzzle away a little, his frosty, merciless eyes fixed on him. “Answer me now. Otherwise, you die.”
The mercenary swallowed, about to speak, when a thunderous crash suddenly erupted outside.
“Damn it, they have accomplices!”
Chen Feng’s whole body jolted. He rushed to the window and saw a black, license-plate-less car speeding away, while his parents lay in a pool of blood.
“Dad! Mom!” Chen Feng’s eyes burned red at the sight.
The mercenary, seeing Chen Feng ignore him, scrambled toward the stairwell. But the moment he moved, he heard a gunshot behind him. A bullet drilled into the back of his head, tore through his brain, and blasted his skull apart.
Chen Feng leaped straight down from the third floor. The black car was already speeding off into the distance, while his parents lay bleeding on the ground.
“Dad! Mom!” Chen Feng rushed over at once and checked their breathing.
Sensing that they were still alive, he let out a slight breath of relief, then shouted to the crowd around him, “Call an ambulance! Call an ambulance!”
Even as he shouted, his whole body trembling, Chen Feng snatched up his phone and quickly dialed Lu Rui’s number.
“Chen Feng?” Lu Rui’s surprised voice came through the line. “What do you need?”
“Uncle Lu, something’s gone wrong!” Chen Feng exhaled sharply and spoke at once. “My parents and I were attacked on Four Seas Street. The attackers had guns. Someone ran us down with a car and injured my parents. Please help me get in touch with the hospital. My parents need surgery, immediately. Tell them to hurry, hurry!”
“All right!” Lu Rui replied at once. “I’ll arrange it right now. Chen Feng, stay calm. Whatever you do, stay calm. Don’t do anything reckless!”
“I know.” Chen Feng nodded and hung up, then quickly called Xiao Yu as well.
After making the call, Chen Feng’s gaze sharpened and fell on the mercenary he had hurled from the third floor at the beginning. The man had not died on the spot, but now his head looked like a crushed tomato.
Who exactly were these people?
Chen Feng clenched his fists involuntarily, his voice icy. “No matter who you are, you’re all dead.”
