Chapter Ninety-Eight: Do You Know What a Human Pig Is? (Seeking Monthly Votes)
Everyone was stunned and unable to make sense of it. They could not understand where Chen Feng had produced that shield. A moment earlier, there had been nothing of the sort in his hands, yet in the blink of an eye, a shield had appeared there, and of all things, such an absurd one.
Captain America’s shield?
They almost wondered whether they were watching a film, for how else could such a strange shield suddenly appear in that man’s hands?
While everyone was still dazed, Chen Feng suddenly lifted the shield in his hand and flicked his sleeve. Two magazines shot out at once, and at the same time a mechanism hidden within the sleeve also spat out two more. With two crisp clicks, they were locked into the weapon.
That faint sound instantly jolted everyone’s nerves. Just moments ago, in order to gun Chen Feng down, they had all rushed out of cover.
“Not good!”
The remaining mercenaries reacted at once, but it was already too late. A storm of bullets tore fiercely through the air. One mercenary had just turned to dive back behind a machine when a bullet drilled savagely into the back of his head, and his skull burst open on the spot.
Though the sound-absorbing vibranium shield hung on Chen Feng’s left arm, it did not interfere with his firing. With a slight movement of both hands, bullets screamed out and struck the mercenaries heavily, one after another, felling them where they stood.
There were seven or eight bullet marks on his back, but they had been blocked by the inner membrane. With a faint shudder of his body, the bullets that had hit him fell away piece by piece. Though several shots had left Chen Feng’s inner membrane on the verge of collapse, once the assault ceased, his body would recover at once.
The gunfire stopped abruptly.
Only then did Luo Wenqiang realize in terror that nearly all the mercenaries he had brought were dead.
A violent fear flooded his heart. At that moment, he lost all courage to remain and turned madly to flee for the door.
He was afraid. Terrified. He had completely forgotten how arrogant and overbearing he had been only moments before, forgotten that he had wanted to humiliate Fang Yue before Chen Feng’s very eyes.
Run. He had to get out of this hellhole.
Luo Wenqiang knew all too well that he had no cards left to play. His men were all dead here. He had seen countless battles, large and small, in his life, but never once had he encountered anything like this, where one man alone had wiped out all of his subordinates.
He understood that he had no power to resist such a person.
The dread in his chest swelled relentlessly as Luo Wenqiang came to fully comprehend Chen Feng’s terror. This man had been struck by bullets, and yet he seemed as though nothing had happened at all.
Hmph.
A look of contempt appeared on Chen Feng’s face. He casually removed the vibranium sound-absorbing shield from his arm and glanced in the direction Luo Wenqiang was fleeing. Weighing the shield in his hand, he found it surprisingly light.
After silently taking in the surroundings, Chen Feng seized the edge of the shield with one hand and hurled it with force.
Whoosh.
The shield flew forward like a spinning disc, smashing repeatedly against several machines. With several dull thuds, it shot straight toward Luo Wenqiang, who was still fleeing with all his might. Before he could react, darkness suddenly blotted out his vision, and then the vibranium shield slammed hard into his forehead.
Bang.
Luo Wenqiang pitched face-first to the ground. The vibranium shield clanged down beside him, and Luo Wenqiang trembled all over, his head swimming with dizziness. It took him a full three or four seconds to regain a shred of awareness.
Not good!
Luo Wenqiang suddenly came back to himself. Just as he struggled to his feet, he saw Chen Feng walking toward him step by step.
Gulp.
Luo Wenqiang swallowed hard. Instinctively, he wanted to back away, but his body, usually so nimble, now felt as heavy as a mountain. There was no killing intent on Chen Feng’s body, and yet merely standing there, he gave off an overwhelming sense of oppression.
Cold. Utterly devoid of any emotion.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
Chen Feng approached step by step, and Luo Wenqiang felt as though those footsteps were trampling directly on his heart. His teeth began to chatter uncontrollably, and by the time Chen Feng was only two or three meters away, he could no longer hold himself together.
“Go to hell!”
Luo Wenqiang roared, his unharmed left hand suddenly producing a dagger as he thrust viciously toward Chen Feng’s throat.
Smack.
Before Luo Wenqiang could complete another move, Chen Feng was faster still, swifter by far. Before the dagger even touched Chen Feng’s skin, five fingers closed around Luo Wenqiang’s wrist like iron tongs.
You!
Luo Wenqiang’s face changed drastically. He could feel Chen Feng’s fingers tightening bit by bit, and beneath that terrifying force, his bones began to twist little by little. He could even sense his bones being crushed under that dreadful grip.
Ah!
A miserable scream burst from Luo Wenqiang’s throat, and the dagger slipped from his hand. Chen Feng seized it with his left hand and held it firmly. Seeing the pained expression on Chen Feng’s face, Luo Wenqiang pleaded desperately, “Chen Feng, please, spare me! Your parents are not dead, and your girlfriend is fine too. Spare me, and I’ll pretend this never happened. I can absolutely act as if I know nothing!”
Hearing this, Chen Feng could not help but laugh. “So that’s what you have to say? Seems you brothers really are cut from the same cloth. Your brother Luo Wenhao said the same thing before he died. What a pity. Do you really think that even if I spare you, you would truly stop causing me trouble?”
Luo Wenqiang’s pupils contracted violently. Looking at Chen Feng, he shouted, “Chen Feng, I can tell you this much: if you kill me, you won’t gain anything from it. I’m telling you, I’m a mercenary. If you kill me, the mercenary force behind me will never let you go!”
At this threat, Chen Feng merely smiled and said lightly, “And do you think that if I don’t kill you, the mercenaries behind you won’t come looking for me? How laughable. The entire Luo family is equally stupid.”
Luo Wenqiang’s pupils shrank slightly, but Chen Feng continued unhurriedly, “However, that doesn’t matter. Rest assured, I won’t kill you for the time being.”
“For the time being?” Luo Wenqiang let out a faint breath of relief. As long as he was not dead, there was still a chance.
But the words that followed sent him plunging into an icy abyss.
“You’ve spent so many years overseas. I wonder if you’ve ever heard of a human pig.”
Luo Wenqiang was still in a daze, thinking he had misheard and that Chen Feng had said hostages instead. Yet Chen Feng went on at his own pace: “A human pig is something invented in the Han Dynasty. Back then, Empress Lu was extremely displeased with Lady Qi. After her husband Liu Bang died, she had someone cut off Lady Qi’s hands and feet, cut out her tongue, and throw her into a dung pit. I believe Wu Zetian did something similar later on.”
“You!”
Luo Wenqiang erupted with a roar. His right leg suddenly lifted and kicked viciously toward Chen Feng’s groin.
But the moment his leg moved, Chen Feng sneered. The dagger in his hand flashed down with ruthless speed and plunged directly into Luo Wenqiang’s thigh. The cold blade sank into the flesh, and Chen Feng twisted it forcefully. Luo Wenqiang immediately let out another agonized scream, and then he realized that his thigh had been severed from his body, blood gushing out like a broken dam.
The dagger was unimaginably sharp; with enough force, even bone could be cut through with ease.
“You drove into my parents and nearly killed them. Now you tell me they’re still alive, and expect this to be settled?”
Chen Feng’s voice was colder than ice as he lifted the dagger again.
Whoosh.
Another vicious cut landed on Luo Wenqiang’s shoulder. With a wet sound, Chen Feng severed his entire shoulder clean off.
“No, no!”
Luo Wenqiang gave a shrill, bloodcurdling cry, his right arm completely detached from his body. Before the scream had even faded, Chen Feng continued, “Your Luo family has harmed my parents more than once or twice. And you think this can simply end, wiped away as though nothing happened?”
As he spoke, Chen Feng seized Luo Wenqiang’s left arm and yanked hard. With a tearing sound, the entire arm was ripped clean off.
You... you...
Luo Wenqiang’s voice shook. He was almost fainting now. One leg remained, and when Chen Feng finally let go, he collapsed straight to the ground, trembling uncontrollably. Then Chen Feng’s gaze fell upon his only remaining intact limb, the left leg.
“Don’t, don’t!”
A feeble plea came from Luo Wenqiang’s mouth.
“Don’t?” Chen Feng looked at him, his smile growing colder and colder. “You only have one left leg left. Keeping it isn’t of much use, really. Besides, I want to make one thing clear to you: it is not that you stop causing me trouble. It is that I am now going to wipe out every last one of you in the Luo family.”
It is not of much use.
With those five words, Chen Feng brought the dagger down once more and slashed savagely across Luo Wenqiang’s left leg.
No!
Luo Wenqiang’s mouth burst with a cry of agony. But before the sound could even end, Chen Feng thrust again. The cold blade pierced in beneath his chin, and a bright red tongue was severed cleanly from Luo Wenqiang’s mouth.
