Chapter Eighty-Two: Wealth and Willfulness
An Qiye felt utterly wronged! Incredibly, terribly wronged! He had just parked his car properly in front of the school, only to have someone slam into it. The perpetrator got out, didn’t apologize at all, but instead slapped him harshly across the face, complaining that he was blocking the road.
This was outrageous—was there anyone who bullied others like this?
The person who arrived was Lu Ran. After more than half a month of recuperation, Lu Ran no longer looked frail as he had before. A carefully balanced diet had restored his health in a short time. From a distance, Lu Ran saw An Qiye talking to Chen Feng, then witnessed Chen Feng effortlessly lift An Qiye with one hand and toss him aside like a dead dog.
Seeing this, Lu Ran didn’t hesitate; he instructed his driver to crash the Aston Martin directly into An Qiye’s car.
An Qiye was completely stunned. Before he could react, Lu Ran slapped him again, “How dare you block my way! How dare you block my way!”
With each repetition of “How dare you block my way,” Lu Ran delivered a stinging slap. After several in a row, An Qiye staggered back, his face swelling and reddening, until he finally collapsed to the ground with a thud. Lu Ran, as if having accomplished something trivial, clapped his hands and approached Chen Feng, speaking with utmost courtesy, “Brother Feng!”
After greeting him, Lu Ran’s gaze fell upon Fang Yue. His face immediately adopted a fawning smile. “This must be your lady. You are truly beautiful!”
These words brought a blush to Fang Yue’s cheeks, and a sense of elation blossomed in her heart. Instantly, she felt a strong liking for Lu Ran. “You flatter me!”
“No, I’m only speaking the truth!” Lu Ran chuckled, putting on a sincere expression.
Chen Feng simply smiled. “Alright, enough with the small talk. Where are we headed?”
Recently, Chen Feng had continued to cook for Lu Ran, either at Xiao Yu’s place or at the Lu family home.
“Let’s go to my place. Sister Xiao has been very busy lately,” Lu Ran said with a smile to Chen Feng. “My father has been looking forward to this for a long time. Let’s get in the car!”
Chen Feng nodded. “Alright.”
“Stop!” Seeing that the group was completely ignoring him, An Qiye’s anger boiled over. He stood up and shouted, “What, you think you can just leave like this?”
Lu Ran turned and glanced at him. “Oh? And what do you intend to do?”
“What do I intend to do?” An Qiye said furiously. “Kid, you think you can just hit me and leave? Let me tell you, here in Jiangzhou, no one dares mess with me! You think you can just walk away after what you did?”
Chen Feng instinctively covered his forehead, feeling a wave of pity for An Qiye. To say such a thing in front of the most notorious playboy in Jiangzhou—it was as if an ant boasted to an elephant about its virility.
Lu Ran was also momentarily stunned. It was as if he’d just heard the funniest joke in the world. He stared at An Qiye with wide eyes. “And what are you going to do?”
Fueled by anger, An Qiye shouted, “Let me tell you, you wrecked my car and dared to hit me! This isn’t over; you’re finished!”
Lu Ran just laughed, his eyes full of mockery. “I’d really like to know, how exactly is this not over?”
At that, Lu Ran shot a subtle look at his driver. Immediately, a car parked by the roadside swung open its door, and four men in black suits stepped out. Each exuded a chilling, lethal aura.
Chen Feng’s pupils narrowed slightly. He had visited Lu Rui’s estate and knew that their bodyguards were no ordinary men—some were retired special forces, others had served as mercenaries, and many had killed before.
All four of these men were likely elite, strictly trained. It made sense: Lu Rui was the richest man in Jiangzhou; how could his only son go anywhere unprotected?
The four bodyguards formed a circle around An Qiye. Lu Ran’s face curled into a mocking smile. “Come, show me—what can you do to me?”
For a moment, An Qiye was at a loss for words. He didn’t recognize Lu Ran. Although he moved in high society, Lu Ran was only fifteen and still in middle school. Many people knew of him, but few knew what he actually looked like.
He had investigated Chen Feng’s connection to the Lu family, but didn’t know what Lu Ran looked like. By now, though, it didn’t matter. Even a fool could sense that Lu Ran was no ordinary character.
“I, I…” An Qiye stammered, unable to utter a word. The presence of the four bodyguards filled him with unspeakable dread. They didn’t need to do anything; just standing there, they made his heart pound with terror.
“What are you going to do to me?” Lu Ran repeated, watching An Qiye with interest.
“You… you can’t just ignore the law!” An Qiye coughed, finally forced to back down. In a small voice, he said, “You… you wrecked my car. Shouldn’t you compensate me?”
“Oh, compensation!” Lu Ran suddenly grinned. He looked at An Qiye’s face, causing An Qiye to swallow nervously, his body beginning to tremble. “Compensation? Fine!”
Lu Ran sneered, “Smash his car.”
None of the four bodyguards hesitated. They swiftly moved to the back of their car, opened the trunk, and pulled out hammers, iron rods, and various tools. Seeing this, An Qiye wanted to protest, but Lu Ran shot him a glare, rendering him speechless.
Bang!
One bodyguard raised a hammer and brought it crashing down on An Qiye’s BMW. The glass shattered instantly. Another bodyguard grabbed an iron rod and slammed it into the car.
Clang! Clang! Bang! Bang!
The four bodyguards attacked with ruthless efficiency, and in the blink of an eye, the BMW was reduced to a mangled wreck. The spectacle drew the attention of countless students; many whipped out their phones to record the scene.
Lu Ran laughed heartily and shouted, “Come on, classmates from north and south! Ever wondered what it feels like to smash a BMW? Today, I’ll give you the chance! Go ahead, smash it as you please! I’ll pay for the damages! I’m rich, and I do as I please!”
His words left the surrounding students stunned.
They’d seen arrogance before, but never anything like this. Some were tempted; then, one student suddenly hoisted a large rock and, with a crash, smashed it onto An Qiye’s BMW. That act was like a chain reaction—soon, students all around were grabbing rocks and pounding away at the car.
Since someone else was footing the bill, why hold back? This was a BMW—any scratch could cost thousands, even tens of thousands. Now, with free rein to smash it, why not?
An Qiye’s face contorted with rage. At that moment, he truly wanted to charge at Lu Ran and fight him tooth and nail, but he didn’t dare—those four bodyguards might turn on him at any moment and beat him senseless.
“Stop!” Suddenly, a woman’s voice rang out, cutting through the commotion. Some students instinctively stopped and turned toward the source.
Out from the school walked An Ran. She no longer wore her usual calm, graceful expression; her face was now pale with anger. A few students, seeing her, froze and wondered—could this be her family’s car?
The students paused, but the four bodyguards paid no attention. They weren’t An Ran’s family’s bodyguards, but Lu Ran’s. Without Lu Ran’s order, they wouldn’t stop.
“Keep smashing! Why did you all stop?” Lu Ran said with a grin, his gaze now landing on An Ran. He was struck by her beauty, but as a scion born with a silver spoon, he’d seen many beautiful women; he was only briefly impressed.
An Ran looked at Lu Ran, then fixed her gaze on Chen Feng. “Chen Feng, what’s the meaning of this?”
“Nothing at all,” Chen Feng shrugged indifferently. “Some people are just asking for trouble. Besides, I didn’t give the order to smash the car. Why blame me?”
Lu Ran, ever courteous, approached An Ran and said, “Miss, is this your family’s car? I’m sorry, I didn’t know it was yours. My apologies for having it smashed. Don’t worry—I’ll compensate you!”
With that, Lu Ran swiftly pulled a hundred-yuan note from his pocket and handed it to An Ran. “Here’s some money for the repairs. Spend it as you like. I’m rich, and I do as I please!”
