Chapter 112: Peerless Genius
Drawing my own blood?
Chen Feng was well aware that, in terms of physical constitution, the gap between himself and Captain America wasn’t that great. The Captain’s body could automatically secrete the super soldier serum; therefore, his own body should be able to do the same. If they were to use his blood for research, Chen Feng was one hundred percent certain that he would end up being treated like a lab rat.
Want to use my blood for research?
A faint cold smile flickered across Chen Feng’s mind. When Lu Rui had someone bring over the syringe, Chen Feng pierced the needle into his own vein but immediately used his internal energy to block the blood flow.
“System, directly extract my uncle’s blood!” Chen Feng silently commanded, then slowly pulled back the plunger to fill the syringe.
“Since it’s not my own blood, even if you want to study it, you won’t be able to discover anything!” Chen Feng had already prepared himself mentally. It wasn’t his own blood, so if they could find anything from it, that would truly be a miracle.
Zhang Mu didn’t suspect anything else. He casually instructed someone to seal the syringe. Whether or not any useful research could be done, Zhang Mu didn’t bother to consider. Instead, he looked at Chen Feng with a hint of amusement. “You said just now that you learn things very quickly?”
“Yes!” Chen Feng nodded seriously. “Anything, I can master it within the shortest time someone can finish reading a novel. As for how well I can learn, I’m very confident!”
Zhang Mu chuckled. “That’s interesting. Just right. I’ve been quite free lately. I’ll teach you a few things and see if you really can learn them.”
“Teach me something?” Chen Feng was a bit surprised but hopeful. Earlier, Zhang Mu wanted to draw his blood and even warned him. Although Chen Feng knew it was just official business, he still felt a bit displeased. But now, Zhang Mu was willing to teach him something; that caught Chen Feng somewhat off guard.
Lu Rui was also surprised. “Zhang Mu, are you trying to take on an apprentice?”
“No!” Zhang Mu shook his head, his gaze fixed on Chen Feng with a touch of curiosity. “I’m just curious to see how far he can go.”
Though he said this, Lu Rui sensed Zhang Mu’s genuine appreciation for talent. He smiled slightly at Chen Feng. “Chen Feng, this old friend of mine doesn’t hand out skills lightly. You’re quite fortunate!”
Chen Feng was somewhat astonished. “Captain Zhang, you’re not joking, are you?”
“I won’t teach you for long—just fifteen days. In these fifteen days, I want to see what level you can reach.” Zhang Mu looked at Chen Feng with keen interest. “I have both martial techniques and internal energy training here. Let’s see if you can learn them.”
“Alright, I’m willing to try!” Chen Feng smiled at Zhang Mu. Learn? If he couldn’t, he could simply extract it. In Chen Feng’s eyes, Zhang Mu was like a dazzling treasure trove.
******
Chen Feng settled down in Lu Rui’s estate and began formal training in martial arts. Although he knew Wing Chun and Jeet Kune Do, he had never systematically learned kung fu before. Now, under Zhang Mu’s tutelage, he immediately sensed his own potential.
His learning speed was astonishing. At first, Lu Rui only taught Chen Feng basic forms like Xing Yi Quan, Bagua Zhang, and Wing Chun. Although Chen Feng had learned Wing Chun from Chen Zhen before, it was clear that Zhang Mu’s mastery was formidable. With just a slight hint here and there, Chen Feng experienced sudden enlightenment.
Learning posed no difficulty whatsoever. In less than a day, Chen Feng had completely remedied the shortcomings in his Wing Chun. After activating the grand extraction system, he was surprised to find that the option to extract Wing Chun from Zhang Mu’s abilities had disappeared.
In other words, Chen Feng’s Wing Chun had already reached perfection.
And this was achieved in only a single day.
Chen Feng didn’t consider himself a martial arts prodigy. Ultimately, it was the effect of the super soldier serum from Captain America. His reflexes and sensory organs were extremely keen, and his intelligence had been greatly enhanced. Zhang Mu only needed to say a little for Chen Feng to immediately grasp the meaning.
His learning ability was beyond abnormal.
Unfortunately, Captain America only learned Western boxing, Aikido, Judo, and similar styles, never truly stepping onto the path of cultivation. Otherwise, his combat power would have been even greater.
Now it seemed the body's enhanced physicality from the super soldier serum was secondary; the main factor was brain development and increased intelligence. This was innate talent and comprehension—far more useful than any physical strength.
On the third, fourth, and fifth days, Chen Feng continued learning Xing Yi Quan and Bagua Zhang under Zhang Mu’s guidance. Initially, it was somewhat challenging, but as he gained understanding, a sense of clarity arose. After seven days, Chen Feng had already integrated the three martial arts into a coherent whole.
“Chen Feng, I truly underestimated you,” Zhang Mu said, astonished. Then he smiled wryly. “I didn’t expect you to reach such a level in such a short time. For others, it might take three to five years to achieve this.”
“Nonsense, Uncle Zhang is flattering me. I had some foundation, so I learned quickly. Plus, Uncle Zhang’s generous teaching helped a lot. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have progressed so fast.” Chen Feng replied politely. In truth, he had deliberately held back these days. If Zhang Mu knew he had already perfected these three styles, he didn’t know how he’d react.
Even Chen Feng himself found it hard to believe that in just a few days, he had reached such a level. When he studied carefully, he decomposed every move Zhang Mu made, capturing every subtlety. Combined with Zhang Mu’s explanations, when Chen Feng practiced, he could replicate all movements perfectly. After just a glance and hearing the instruction, his skill matched that of someone who had trained for seven or eight years. With a bit more time to grasp the essence, he was on par with Zhang Mu in these three styles.
Originally, Chen Feng had thought that if he couldn’t learn something, he’d just extract it. But now, he felt that some things didn’t even need extraction. With his talent and comprehension, direct learning didn’t take much time.
The grand extraction system wouldn’t lower the price just because of talent or understanding.
Still, Chen Feng kept his abilities well hidden, letting Zhang Mu simply think he was gifted—never to suspect he was something beyond human.
Zhang Mu smiled as he said, “No need to be modest. When you said you learn everything extremely fast, I didn’t quite believe it. But now, I have no choice but to accept it. Your talent and comprehension can only be described as terrifying.”
Chen Feng just smiled.
Zhang Mu continued, “Next, I’ll teach you some martial techniques. You must study them carefully.”
“Martial techniques?” Chen Feng asked curiously. “Are these different from the martial arts forms?”
“Of course. Martial arts forms are just basic moves coordinated with internal energy. Martial techniques are different—they require the combined use of internal energy.” Zhang Mu looked at Chen Feng earnestly. “When internal energy is combined with martial techniques, the power unleashed is vastly greater. The more advanced the martial technique, the more it can amplify your internal energy’s strength, sometimes by several times. But the higher the level of the technique, the stronger internal energy you need. With your current internal energy, you can’t learn the advanced techniques yet.”
Chen Feng suddenly understood why he could extract Stephen Zhou’s Dark Hand technique but couldn’t perform it. If forced, it would drain his vital energy and even shorten his lifespan.
“Uncle Zhang, what skill do you intend to teach me?” Chen Feng asked, though he had some idea. He knew very well what background Zhang Mu carried.
“I have a martial technique called Mountain-Splitting Palm,” Zhang Mu smiled. “I think this is the most suitable for you now. Other techniques you can’t learn yet. If you force it, it will only endanger your life.”
Chen Feng understood. He couldn’t learn advanced martial techniques at the moment. Zhang Mu’s Golden Emperor Blazing Fist sounded flashy and overwhelming, but it was beyond his reach. He guessed it required internal energy at the Dan-level or higher, and he was far from that.
“I still need to find a way to extract more internal energy,” Chen Feng muttered to himself. But he wasn’t in a hurry. Zhang Mu was right in front of him. Even if he were thousands of miles away, the grand extraction system could still extract his abilities. The golden mountain was already in hand and wouldn’t escape. He just needed to develop his abilities. Once his internal energy combinations were sufficient, he could extract everything directly.
(Second update. Vote for me, everyone! Where are your votes? The third update will come a bit later. Tonight, Brother Feng will definitely write it for you all!)
