Luo Yongjiang was a nouveau riche who had recently risen to prominence in Jiangzhou. His business empire spanned many sectors, including real estate, energy, transportation, and various high-end clubs. Yet, the pillar of his wealth remained the real estate industry. In recent years, as property prices skyrocketed, Luo Yongjiang seized the opportunity and, in a flash, became a notable figure among Jiangzhou’s social elite.

In construction, the most difficult part isn’t the actual building, but managing relationships. Upwards, one must coordinate with the government to secure all the necessary permits; downwards, one must appease the local residents, offering them enough benefits—or employing threats and bribes—to ensure their compliance.

As his wealth grew, Luo Yongjiang took the opportunity to gather a group of enforcers around him. Most were thugs from the streets or men who had only recently been released from prison, hardened and ruthless—several notches above petty criminals like Liu Wei, who only dared bully students for pocket change.

Brother Kai was one of Luo Yongjiang’s most formidable men. Years ago, Kai had won the city’s sanda championship, but after crippling a man in a fight, he was sent to prison. Upon his release, with no prospects, he was recruited by Luo Yongjiang and became his loyal hound.

As Brother Kai strode forward with his lackeys in tow, the surrounding residents instinctively stepped aside, not daring to cross paths with such scum. But Kai relished this fear in others; the sense of power and the attention fed his ego. Soon, they arrived at the entrance to Chen Feng’s home.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

A series of violent knocks jolted Chen Feng’s parents to attention. Chen Ze frowned slightly and stood up. “Could it be that Feng forgot his keys? I’ll go open the door.”

With that, he walked slowly to the door. Opening it, he was momentarily stunned to see the burly Brother Kai standing there, a sinister grin on his face.

“You’re the head of this household, aren’t you?” Kai sneered.

“Yes, I am,” Chen Ze replied, swallowing nervously as he eyed the thugs, wondering what such obvious troublemakers wanted from his family.

Kai let out a cold laugh. “I’m from Yongjiang Construction. I’m here on behalf of the company to have you sign a demolition agreement.”

As he spoke, Kai flashed his yellowed teeth and signaled to one of his men, who promptly thrust a demolition contract into Chen Ze’s hands. Chen Ze glanced at it, stunned—he had known this area would eventually be demolished, but he hadn’t expected the day to arrive so soon.

In the next moment, disbelief washed over him as he read the details. “Is this some kind of mistake? You’re only offering ten thousand yuan for the demolition? Did you bring the wrong document?”

“Wrong document?” Kai picked his nose disdainfully, looking down at Chen Ze. “This is the agreement.”

“That’s impossible!” Chen Ze protested. “Wasn’t it supposed to be at least three hundred thousand per household, plus an eighty-square-meter apartment? Why are you only offering ten thousand?”

“Oh, you want that much?” Kai sneered, flicking his nose debris aside and spitting on the ground. “Old man, your house is worth exactly this much. So, are you signing or not?”

“I won’t sign!” Chen Ze’s anger erupted. “This is blatant bullying!”

“Bullying? That’s right, we’re bullying you. What are you going to do about it?” Kai grinned. “This is your last chance. Are you signing or not?”

Chen Ze realized these thugs had come solely to cause trouble. Normally, he might have tolerated a low offer, but ten thousand yuan for their home was an insult. Without a house, how would the three of them survive?

“I’m not signing. Get out of my house right now, or I’ll call the police!” Chen Ze shouted furiously.

Slap!

Before his words had faded, Kai struck him hard across the face. The blow left Chen Ze dazed, and before he could react further, Kai kicked him brutally in the abdomen, sending him crumpling to the floor in agony.

“Call the police? You dare threaten me?” Kai’s face twisted into a vicious grin. “Looks like the old man still doesn’t understand the situation. Boys, loosen him up a bit!”

At his command, the gang of thugs pounced like wild dogs. They were no strangers to violence.

Chen Ze never had a chance to get up. He was pinned to the ground, fists raining down on him relentlessly.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

In the blink of an eye, the brutes surrounded Chen Ze, their assault merciless.

“Stop! Please, stop!” Chen Feng’s mother, Xiao Sufen, cried out desperately. She had thought it was her son returning, only to be confronted by a gang of fiends.

“Out of the way!” Kai barked, kicking Xiao Sufen hard in the chest. Already frail, she collapsed in pain, unable to resist.

“Two of you, get inside and burn their house down. Damn it, show them what happens when you refuse to cooperate!” Kai commanded coldly.

“On it, Kai!” one thug replied with a nasty grin, slipping into the house.

“No, don’t!” Chen Ze clung to the thug’s leg, but was kicked aside. The thug, carrying a can of gasoline, strode into the home.

“I’ll sign, don’t burn our house, please!” Chen Ze watched in horror as the thugs doused their home with gasoline and produced a lighter. In an instant, flames erupted, engulfing the house in a roaring blaze.

“I’ll fight you to the death!” Bloodied and enraged, Chen Ze struggled to his feet and charged at Kai.

Crash!

Kai kicked him in the chest, sending him sprawling once more. Then he sneered, “All of you, make it hurt. If anything happens, I’ll take responsibility!”

“Please, please, stop!” Xiao Sufen pleaded, her voice trembling with desperation. “We’ll sign, we’ll sign, just please stop!”

She tried to stand but her body was too weak; she could only look on helplessly, her face etched with sorrow.

“Keep going!” Leopard, another thug, sneered at her. He relished the look of despair on others’ faces, the feeling of trampling them beneath his feet was intoxicating.

The residents watched from a distance, but none dared intervene—these criminals played by no rules.

“Stop!”

Suddenly, a furious shout rang out, freezing the thugs mid-action. They turned to see a student standing there, pushing a bicycle and glaring at them with burning rage.

It was Chen Feng.

He had just returned from school and, from a distance, noticed a crowd gathered near his house. As he drew closer, he saw his parents being beaten and his home set ablaze. Instantly, rage billowed up within him.

Seeing Chen Feng, Luo Wenhao’s heart leapt in excitement.

Leopard turned, his face twisting into a cruel smile. “At last, the main character arrives!”

He knew well that Luo Wenhao’s true target was Chen Feng. Unhurried, he said coldly, “Keep going, don’t stop.”

“Bastard, didn’t you hear me?” Chen Feng roared, his eyes blazing red. He seized his bicycle, his back and waist tensing with sudden strength, and in one explosive motion hurled the entire bike at the group of thugs.

One particularly burly thug was about to resume beating Chen Ze when the bicycle crashed into him, sending him sprawling to the ground and rolling several times from the impact.

All movement ceased. The thugs stared, stunned, at the young man advancing toward them.

None could believe that a mere high school student could possess such strength.

Chen Feng gazed at the thugs, then at his battered parents, a murderous impulse surging within him. His lips moved, and five chilling words escaped:

“You are all dead.”
